
There are numerous types of beds for us to choose from these days, platform, canopy, and four poster beds are among the many options. You really need to have a budget in mind while buying a bed, just bear in mind though, that you may well want to set some of you're budget aside for any additional bedding items. Remember it's isn't merely the bed that contributes to a good nights sleep, you also have to feel comfortable with the bed linen and the pillows, and of coarse there is the type of mattress you will want to consider.
Your most important choice comes when you define what sort of bed you want. These days, there's a wide variety of choices offered to you, platform beds, adjustable beds, bunk beds, Murphy beds, futons..etc. There's quite a selection for you out there! When you have bought your handmade solid oak furniture, you should know how to care for it properly. Besides the obvious 'handle with care' when moving your furniture, do not drop it from a great height and so on, here are a few tips that we mention to our clients to help them care for the furniture that we make for them.
Solid wood furniture needs to be waxed with natural beeswax regularly. The traditional thick 'paste' lightly applied with a soft rag (old towelling) is best, or a natural spray on is quite adequate, but silicon spray is not suitable as it does not feed or nourish the wood, but merely puts a slippery shiny surface on the wood.

Maria Bartlett was recently renovating her 1905 Queen Anne farmhouse in suburban Atlanta.
Her frequent trips to bistros and cafes in Paris had inspired her to search on the Internet for French encaustic tiles (tiles made with the color inlaid) for her kitchen.
And she found them - at L'Antiquario Antique Tiles, a Miami Beach, Fla.-based tile company that reclaims European tiles. She scooped up more than 100 pieces of tile made in the 1840s in a French country motif to set on her refurbished kitchen's walls "in a beautiful carpet," Bartlett said, giving the tile a second life, as she saw it.

Shaker furniture is characterized by a lack of ornamental design in the woodwork. These founding principles date back to 1821, when a written doctrine was established known as the Millennial Laws. This doctrine established the conduct of Shakers' lives and defined what was proper and improper under the laws.
The doctrine held architectural standards to ensure standardization in communities. This is not so much different in today's time with "gated communities" and "homeowners' associations" often dictating how a structure can be built including design, builder choice, size and location.
