Decorating with Area Rugs can Compliment Furniture

momeni area rugs decorative accessories.jpg
There are so many elements that you must consider when decorating a room. There is the paint, furniture, and of coarse an area rug to pull the whole thing together. Accessorizing is the part of the project where you can personalize with colors and textures and really make a statement. No home is complete without the personal touches an area rug can offer.

A few things you will want to consider when selecting the right rug for you home is the clean ability factor, amount of traffic, and correct size of rug for your room. Most of all, how will this beautiful addition compliment your furniture and existing colors.

I personally went with several 5x8 size rugs made of 100% wool that have muted colors for a soft, non over powering look. This allows the focal point to be the furniture, not the floor. I was careful to pick up colors of the surrounding elements to bring a uniform look to the arrangement.

For high traffic areas I suggest a synthetic fiber. Olefin is a great material for heavy use and will not only show little breakdown but it is cleanable as well. If the use will be moderate, wool may be the right choice to make and will certainly expand you possibilities. Pay attention to thepile. A heavy pile rug with a heavier concentration of fibers will hold up much longer and look less worn.

One manufacturer that offers a great selection of almost every type from traditional to modern is Momeni. They offer a wool line as well as synthetic, and have a multitude of sizes including runners, round, and rectangular. Their New Wave line has some great choices, a nice thick pile, and are heavy enough to lay flat without curling up on the ends. I suggest a rug pad with a sticky feel to keep your new rug from bunching or wrinkling.
