Finding a Replacement Lamp Shade
Hopefully, many of you have not had the experience of shopping for lampshades. I am surprised that when you buy a lamp, a spare shade does not come with it. At some point the lamp may be fully functional, but the shade is in complete disrepair. I can't say that shopping for lampshades is the highest priority on my list, but some time it is necessary.
There is a lampshade buyers guide at Lamps USA that has some good information. It points out the different types of shades, base designs and how to measure correctly for a lampshade. Many lamp shops are more intent on selling a new lamp as opposed to a replacement shade. Lamps USA offers a good selection of replacement shades available for purchase at reasonable prices.

I feel your pain! :)
I've mad it a habit to only consider lamps that either:
1. Don't require a shade
2. Have a glass shade (or ball)
3. Metal surround
Makes life easier.
