What do a washing machine and a lamp have in common? They have nothing in common of course. This is where Recyclamps comes in. These innovative Eastern Europeans have used the inside of an old washing machine and fashioned it into a lamp. I have to give them credit for their originality.

If you enjoy that decorating style, you will find traditional platform beds, dressing screens, shoji tables and even terracotta warriors available. I really like the concept of the butterfly convertible sofa by GamplusFratesi. It looks so inviting for guests to sit on and yet is practical in the way it can be folded down to provide an extra bed. The clean white look, smooth lines and the metal legs give this contemporary classic a very organic look.

As I face record heat here in Texas, my timing could not be more off for an article on a fireplace. The Chimo fireplace by Blomus combines technology and a flair for the environment all in one package. I find this fireplace particularly intriguing by the way it can be installed easily in any home. I love finding space saving designs that offer function and conserve space. Behind the Wall is a both a wall and a sofa. People can sit on both sides of the couch and interact with one another through the sofa. I bet children would have a blast sitting on this couch! This could be a solution where two brothers/sisters have to share a room. Jordi Canudas designed this piece.
