It is so nice to look back at the furniture classics and see how the roots of the modern movement started. The Tavolino round accessory table by Gio Ponti for example was designed in 1932, seventy five years ago and still looks very much in style today. The two glass discs suspended by the polished nickel columns are very simple which allows it to tastefully blend into a clean modern environment. Of coarse the classics are not cheap, the Tavolino list price is $2500 from Fontana Arte. W 24.1" H 24.1"

As an admirer of quality furniture combined with sensible design, I can't help but like the Lex Series from Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams. The one thing that is so appealing is the updated touches to this 50's modern inspired collection. The buffet has ample storage combined with nickel plated drawer pulls, alder solids, walnut veneers, and charcoal finished drawers rounding out a well crafted piece. In addition to dining room furniture, the collection includes a full line of bedroom case goods. Shown in Nero: 76L 20D 28H
