One of my favorite modern furniture lines is the Elite Modern collection from California for several reasons. Elite has obvious style and they don't take it from others, relying instead on a wealth of talented designers for all original works. In addition they have the most solid construction around consisting of heavy gauge welded steel and other quality components. The Verso dining table and sideboard shown here has a very crisp look you may expect from a swank Italian company with a much heftier price tag. The Verso dining table and sideboard series is simple and right to the point, yet it still manages to make a very strong statement. One nice feature is the bench seating Elite offers with several of their dining chair sets which maximizes space and offers a unique look.
In the constantly changing fashion fueled furniture market, manufactures follow the trends that bring new looks to the public. One of the hottest up and coming trends for the 2008 furniture season is the color white which has really been embraced by the modern sector. This year Elite Modern from California has added white as a option on all of their collection consisting of some awesome original designs. Elite specializes in occasional tables, dining table and chairs, bars, bar stools, sideboards mostly of heavy gauge steel. The Elite Modern line has a very classic look that is quite reasonably priced made right here in the good ole USA.

On a trip to the Natuzzi headquarters in High Point North Carolina this fall, I had a great look at their 2008 collection of sofa groups, recliners, accent chairs, and sectionals. I say look, it was far more than that. Actually it was several hours of sitting in luxurious leather furniture that was simply stunning to the eye, and pleasing to the touch. One of my favorites was the Nicolaus collection shown here with adjustable ratchet headrests, backless corner, tufted sides, and comfortable soft wide arms. In addition to their legendary handmade leather upholstery, Natuzzi has probably the best looking accessory collection I have seen. Everything you see here from the area rug to the lamps, even the sideboard is all part of a comprehensive series of awesome decorative accessories by Natuzzi. In addition to the wide array of leather colors and grades, they also offer a full selection of microfibers.
One name that is getting a lot of attention in modern furniture lately is Viccarbe, and for good reason. The entire collection has a clean minimal look that makes great use of high quality materials and some very well known names in design. One of my favorite pieces from their collection is the Levitt by designers Ludovica and Roberto Palomba which includes a sofa and oversized chair. The seamless seating surface offers generous room thanks to an armless design. Probably the best view of the Levitt sofa is from behind which reveals a stylish wrap around back rest, far to cool to be put against a wall.
Furniture Fashion has reviewed several items from the Moroso modern furniture collection, and we have always been impressed with the creativity of the designers they commission. The T Vertigo coffee table from designers Laura Aquili and Ergian Alberg is no exception. The simple yet ornate shape is as durable as good looking, comprised of thermoformed Corian in your choice of red, black and white, this coffee table will definitely be a conversation piece. I especially like the way the T Vertigo offers several dimension from the top and side view creating opposing angles and a nice flow of focal points.
Once again Poltrona Frau puts convenience into an otherwise common item, and this time it's the Isidoro fold up bar by well know designer Jean-Marie Massuad. Poltrona Frau specializes in furniture that makes sense and compliments a mature modern décor. The Isidoro Bar has a compact but well equipped space featuring ample glass and bottle storage, fold down tray, and a large and small storage drawer for all your bar accessories. Keep your eye on these guys for some outstanding designs in the near future.
When it comes to innovation and really cool convenient space saving furniture accessories, Poltrona Frau is one name that won't let you down. The Oceano jewelry cabinet by designer Andree Putman definitely makes the best use of a small space. A fold up style design allows you to conceal your valuables when not in use, and the wheels allow you to move the Oceano away to the closet or another out of the way spot. I must say Andree Pitman left nothing out of this very intricate jewelry storage cabinet which sports a multitude of various sized drawers, hanger, trays, and cabinets.
It's never to late or early to embrace the future, and the Tobia desk may very well be a good look at things to come. The Tobia by Emmemobili Furniture of Italy was designed by Fabiano Trabucchi and can be used in a home office setting or a progressive commercial environment. One name to keep your eye on for stunning modern furniture designs is Emmemobili Furniture of Italy. In a time when quality is often compromised for cheaper and faster, Emmemobili stands on the forefront of quality products with outstanding original designs. The Sumo TT round coffee table by designer Alessandro Pascolini proves the "less is more" concept by creating an awesome modern look out of two simple pieces for a most intriguing statement. Sumo TT is available in several wood finishes with a matching wood or glass top as shown.
