The Crash from designer Ferruccio Laviani is a multipurpose storage unit that would be perfect as a buffet/sideboard or as a media stand with a plasma T V mounted above. Either way Crash will make a real statement with its diamond front doors that fold open allowing access to its large storage areas and drawers. Emmemobili furniture of Italy has a super collection of the most unique furniture I have seen in a long time, all of which are original designs with a stunning modern theme. Despite the multifaceted door fronts, Crash has a continuous grained veneer front appearing as a solid surface which you will only get from a quality manufacturer.

If you have not seen the Egg Chair from Fritz Hansen then you just weren't paying attention. There probably isn't a more copied piece of furniture made than Arne Jacobsen's 1958 icon which was originally developed for the lobby of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The original prototype was developed in the garage of Arne Jacobsen and cast in plaster. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Egg, Fritz Hansen has released a series of 999 numbered chairs available February 1st, and I'm sure they won't last very long. Today the synthetic shell is padded with cold cured foam and covered in fabric or different types of leather resting on a star shaped aluminum base. This is a great example of a timeless modern design that will look as up to date 50 years from now as it does today.

If the names of great furniture designers like Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Charlotte Perriand are of interest, then the "Masteri I" collection by Cassina of Italy is a great place to look for authentic licensed reproductions. Also included are selected works by Gerrit T. Rietveld like the Utrecht sofa and arm chair, a 1935 release which has risen to furniture icon status. Cassina acquired the license for Rietveld's designs in 1971 and has experienced phenomenal success with connoisseurs who know and respect furniture from the original modern movement. Some other releases included in the Cassina I Maestri collection are Rietveld's Zig-Zag accent chair, the Red and Blue lounge chair, and the Schroeder 1 table, all produced with exact standards of the originals. The Utrecht series shown here looks as good today as it did 70 years ago, and is right at home in a classical modern interior.

If you are a lover of fine tableware including porcelain china then Rosenthal of Germany is a must see. The Rosenthal name has been synonymous with high quality and great design since 1879, and the tradition continues. Today the line has grown to include some outstanding decorative accessories, vases, platters, stemware, decanters, and of coarse a wide variety of daily table ware and fine porcelain china. Their collection which is divided into three categories includes Versace, Thomas, and Rosenthal, each specializing in vastly unique product lines and all bearing a close attention to detail. One thing that sets Rosenthal apart is their involvement with top designers that constantly reinvent and expand their product line while never loosing sight of tradition.

Here is a really cool interlocking four piece stool from British manufacturer Established and Sons that gives you a variety of seating arrangements, and all of them look great. Designer and architect Zaha Hadid has created some head turning modern furniture for famous names including B & B Italia, Moroni Leather, and Sawaya, and I have a feeling the list will go on. Zaha makes great use of clean flowing organic shapes with the Nekton interlocking stools that can be used individually or as a larger seating system. The Nekton is a production version of the original that was part of the "Seemless" collection comprised from rotation molded Fordacal. Established and Sons has a wonderful assortment of furniture that ranges from very modern to classical contemporary.
