LAX Platform Bed by MASH Studios

LAX PLATFORM BED FROM MASH STUDIOS
Having been well over due for purchasing a new bed, it's no surprise that the LAX Platform Bed by MASH Studios caught my eye. The first thing I noticed was the clean low styling and the absence of a boxspring. The natural plywood used in the construction of the platform bed offers enough give and durability while providing the arability a mattress needs through the openings between each slats. What's really unique is the wall mounted headboard with aluminum sliding doors which would make my bedside table a lot less cluttered thanks to the extra space.

You can pick up your own MASH Studios Platform Bed in either queen size (91l x 72w x 6h) or king size (93l x 84w x 6h) through the 2modern for $1,029-$2,198. Definitely check out the MASH Studios Wall Mounted Shelf before you complete your order as I honestly feel it would really tie your room together.

O-Nest Armchair by Tord Boontje

TORD BOONTJE O-NEST ARMCHAIR BY MOROSO FURNITURE.jpg
I always seem to find myself intrigued by the most random furniture, and the Nest Armchair designed by Tord Boontje is no different. This modern armchair gives off more of a feeling that it's art work rather than a chair as it is made out of rotationally molded colored polyethylene. This nest armchair provides an excellent opportunity to utilize the same piece of furniture for multiple functions with it's decorative and useful design. The Tord Boontje Nest Armchair from Moroso is available in several vibrant colors including neon red, neon yellow, and neon orange which only add to its allure. In addition, the Nest Chair is perfect for indoor or outdoor use and may even help fill your need for the most stylish patio furniture on the block.

Small Space Multifunction Table By Davide Varotto

cub8 wenge coffee table.jpg
In our small space living adventures we have come to realize the usefulness of multifunction furniture. If a piece can serve multiple uses, it becomes even more valuable to the small space dweller.

The CUB8 by Davide Varotto is one such piece. At first glance, it's... well, a cube. A small stylish low coffee table, the CUB8 looks like the typical modern coffee table. It is constructed of wenge stained oak and contrasting white lacquer. If this were it, we could say it was an attractive piece.

The CUB8, however, conceals several secrets. The unit pulls apart to affectively double its size. If you need more space for drinks or perhaps hors d'oeuvres at small space cocktail parties, just slide it apart and you are ready to entertain. Again, if this were then end, it would still be a great piece. In addition to sliding apart, the CUB8 also opens. Inside there is a shelf designed to hold CD's and DVD's and also a deeper storage compartment.

This is a great multifunction piece. When all you need is a small coffee table, the CUB8 will fit the bill. And when you need more, it will be there with loads of storage and tabletop space. Price: 1,170 euros.

1950s George Nelson wall unit by Herman Miller

George Nelson mid century modern wall unit.jpg
A nice mid century modern example, this wall unit was designed by George Nelson and produced by Herman Miller in the 1950s. The wall unit features three vertical supports which serve as its architectural foundation. On the left is an open shelf with dividers for storage. Beneath the storage with dividers, is a drop front desk with a single door opening to a storage space.

On the right hand side, there is a single plank shelf at the top. Below there is a cabinet with one shelf which has two sliding glass doors. At the very bottom is a cabinet with three small drawers and one larger drawer/storage area. The wall unit is adorned by three lights. Measurements: 14" x 65" x 96" (lwh).

My hope is to visit a garage sale and find a wall unit as fine as this example. These pieces are becoming increasingly hard to find at bargain prices since more people understand their value. I checked with a local friend and dealer. According to him, he would charge from $2,800 - $4,000 for this piece depending on its condition.

Get Nostalgic with Hemingway Kentmere Club End Table

ERNEST HEMINGWAY KENTMERE CLUB END TABLE.jpg
Ernest Hemingway once said that, "There is no friend as loyal as a book.". It's only fitting that this stylish end table from Thomasville is known as the Ernest Hemingway Kentmere Club End Table. With two shelves built out of leather composite, the books and magazines you tend to keep on your end table will have a nice new comfortable home here. The style is reminiscent of the within the Kentmere Club, a British gentlemans club Hemingway frequented in Kenya, with it's Mahogany solids and laurel burl veneers that give this end table that aged and distinguished feel. I'd have to say that I personally find the picture frame top to add the most flair to the piece, even thought the color is what gives it such a powerful appearance.

You won't have any trouble with finding space on this end table with it having dimensions of 27 1/4"h x 24"w x 29"d, so you're leisure reading will have a nice home when you can't get to it. You can pick up the Ernest Hemingway Kentmere Club End Table at your local Thomasville dealer, and while you're there be sure to take a look at rest of the Kentmere Club collection of Ernest Hemingway inspired furniture.
