Here are two very unique storage cabinets from Oooms that are quite creative in function and design. The Rebellious Cabinet 1 which always has two of its drawers open responds when a push is given. The drawers can't be closed at the same time and a simple push will send the closed drawer open. Beech Wood and Steel 100 x 120 x 40 cm The Rebellious Cabinet 2 has a completely different look but works the same way. This smaller storage unit may be perfect in a bedroom setting, extra storage in a bathroom, or as a buffet sideboard in your casual dining room. 100x 120 x 40 Available Here

The "Panton Chair" is a world famous icon of mid century modern design immediately recognizable from its picture. Verner Panton had many other great creations including the Flowerpot Lamp featured here. The Flowerpot Lamp was manufactured by Louis Poulsen of Denmark. The example pictured here features a bright orange finish with a round shade. The wall mounting bracket and arching arm of the lamp gives the image of a flower leaning out of a pot and hence the name. Hopefully, you will find one of these at a great price in a thrift store near you. 18"w x 8"d x 18.5"h.

It's great to sprinkle in some of the past along with cool designs from the present. The picture here shows an occasional table by Interior Crafts manufactured in the 1960s. The table features a small round glass top atop a white wooden pedestal in symmetrical wave shapes. The wave cutouts remind me of shapes we still see today in contemporary design since a "curve" is such a departure from the typical box-like 90 degree angle. A piece such as this would run $400-$1,000 from a mid century furniture store. Measurements: 36" w x 29.5" h.

This modern Chilean country house is constructed primarily of concrete. Though it is a residential place, many of its aspects are similar to commercial design techniques. The high vaulted ceilings create panoramic views of outdoor landscape through long sweeping windows. My favorite element in this house is the grand view created from the windows. Now with an accompanying vineyard, this would be the perfect respite for a busy urbanite. Via.
