Furniture Fashion received a recent submission by Kristoffer Kjær of a new bench. As I looked at the bench I investigated further to see what other pieces he has created. I am a fan of Danish furniture designs so I was excited to see examples of his work. I have included a brief biography that Kristoffer sent me so you can get an insight into this young designer.

When it comes to home design it is difficult to "think outside the box". Let's face it. The world is full of clichés. We hear that at work every day, at home, and amongst friends. So how do we really create something different? The first thing is to forget what we know now and start completely over. That is what I think of when I saw these unique house plans from Antonino Cardillo. This house impresses me since it defies commonly accepting building techniques. First off, any time that you move away from 90 degree angles, it becomes much more difficult to build without defect. Also, the distribution of weight in a home is much easier achieved through traditional construction methods. The home featured here is near Barcelona, Spain. As you look at the pictures you can see the incredible views of the home interior created by the sloped ceilings and the general curvature of the architecture. Via.

We all need extra seating in many places in our houses. Whether it's the vanity, bathroom area, kitchen or a dining room, we all need an extra chair from time to time. Pictured here is a chair from Usona. The extra feature in this chair is a drawer. How many times would it be useful to have a place to store small things? Well in this chair, you get both. Via.

Timothy Schreiber describes his work as "pop modernism" and all labels aside his style is creative and right up my alley. The Morphogenesis Chaise lounge started with a close study of micro-structural systems while a close attention to comfort and aesthetics were maintained. Schreiber enlisted the use of a high-tech computer program that completely digitalized the design process, but was left to decide on the individual elements, dimensions, and structural testing to good old trial and error. The Morphogenesis Chaise allows the user to position themselves in just the right spot to tilt the rocker in just the right angle for comfort. Available in Black or White polycarbonate and foam upholstery. 400W x 800L x 620H

Franco Poli has designed this minimal chaise lounge called Dormeus. This piece is available in three options: light ash, stained ash structure, or with leather covering. First off, there is not much to this design, hence its minimal label. The sloping curves almost appear "lazy" and yet provide the type of curvature that is needed to comfort the human form when reclining. Measurements: 73" x 20" x 19". Price: $3,042. Available: here.
