Designed by Stefano Bigi, Globus sparks the imagination about a futuristic living room. This furniture is constructed of fabric upholstery, wooden frame, and polyurethane foam. Functionally speaking, different shapes can be created by putting the pieces together as seen in the picture. The three pieces placed together give the sense of bench seating or a sofa without backrests. Likewise the polyurethane inserts can be taken out which can then be used as accent tables. I like the concept, but need to hold out for my own personal "comfort test". Via.

If you like to rearrange your living room furniture then the Tao lounger may be a great piece for your home décor. The main attribute of the Tao is its ability to transform into different looks and in effect different pieces of furniture. A person that actively uses their space may also like the functionality of this piece. You could free up the space in your living room quickly and then when your finished, put it back together. Another idea is if you live in a small apartment and are having guests, the pieces could be split apart against opposite walls to maximize the open space in the center of the room for mingling. These interesting pictures are from Arch Daily showing an apartment complex in Slovenia. In the article they were named "Tetris" which is a fitting term considering how organizing shapes was the crux of that video game. It is fascinating how the shapes have been put together in the architectural design. I wonder from a construction stand point, it that caused the building timeline to be longer than normally expected for a project of this size. Via.

I don't know about you but most of my time in the kitchen is involved in socializing and having fun times cooking and visiting friends. The kitchen is truly the most used room in most homes and it is the center of action especially for those who entertain a lot. Big Chill has a really cool less formal retro line of kitchen appliances that make the plain old square refrigerator, stove, hood vent, and dishwasher seem boring. Their 50's style rounded fronts with big steel handles, cursive writing, and outstanding color selection, some in two tones, add a real splash of style in your kitchen or great room. Big Chill appliances look old fashioned on the outside but they come with modern functionality, efficiency and dependability, ice makers and even defrost. The latest addition to the collection is the range stoves and hood vents due out very soon to complete the retro look through out your kitchen. See the entire line of appliances, specifications, and color choices here.

Matt Carr has created this wonderful functional coffee table available at the Umbra store. When I look at the Mimosa up close it appears as a large "W" with an accompanying table top. The angular "W" creates a great nesting place to store books, remote controls, or magazines. In particular, magazines stored inside do not make this piece of furniture look "junky" as you can see in the picture. They rest gently on the angles and don't create a sensation of clutter as a result. Measurements: 22" x 36" x 15". Price: $210. Available: here.
