I have been attracted to white home interiors for the last few years. I find them to present a "clean" and "uncluttered" appeal, though to others they may be too sterile. The pictures here feature a house in the Dolomites, a beautiful mountain range in Italy. Pietro Borzini was the collaborator on this remodel project. One of the challenges was to resize many of the rooms to bring them up to scale with today's standards. A second challenge was to infuse the home with more light and thereby, enhance the impact of the predominant white interior design. From the pictures, you can see that they were able to accomplish both of these objectives. Via.

There is an interesting story behind the "New Haven" side table from designer Vallo Riberto. Riberto designed this art deco side table while attending the Yale Graduate School of Art and Architecture in 1968 but the design stayed dormant for almost 30 years. Finally in 1995 the New Haven side table was produced and is made today in two versions which include a dyed laminated over a plywood core or ¾ inch thick Baltic Birch. The New Haven is available in natural finishes or a variety of colors with exposed edges and finished with three layers of hand rubbed lacquer and hand wrought iron steel pin legs. This eye catching accent table really has a lot of character and will surely add some style to any room. 20W x 29H x 42.5L $1200 Ships Free in Continental US From
If you follow design trends, then you have most certainly heard the term "Green Design". Green Design (also called sustainable design) is the art of designing physical objects and the built environment to comply with the principles of economic, social, and ecological sustainability. It's about making good choices when it comes to protecting our world and preserving its resources by using sustainable or easily renewable materials like bamboo flooring, instead of depleting resources like granite that would take hundreds of thousands of years to replace.
Many consumers have heard about what it can do to help their health as well as the environment, others just think it's a neat concept, but may not know if it can be implemented in their homes. Although a new home built to be "Green" using LEED certification guidelines will give the best results for indoor air quality and energy use savings, it does not mean you should give up on Green design for your interior décor in an existing home.
For those consumers that are looking to build Green homes, look for an architect who specializes in LEED certified buildings and Green residences. One such architect is Santa Monica, CA based David Hertz, founder of the Studio of Environmental Architecture. Here is one of my favorite designs of his, Lehrer:

Alexander Munk from Germany has created this interesting storage system for books and magazines. This design is called "Span". Interestingly enough, Span expands as more books are added to the storage system. This clever design can control the amount of space used by the system by contracting to the width of the books. Via.
