Twister is a fitting name for this wooden bench designed by Yuriko Takahashi. Twister is constructed of laminated birch veneer and comes in the natural color pictured here or in black. An interesting aspect of the bench is how it "flows" in a room. I am reminded of a roller coaster track and how it shapes contorts as it focuses the cars along the track in a pre-specified direction. Paul McCobb's works have always fascinated me when it comes to mid century modern furniture. A few months back, I featured a pair of minimalist nightstands that had been crafted by the modern master. Here is the Planner Group bench and cabinet which combine seating and storage in a single furniture piece. The two drawers are not just decorative, and function on aluminum pulls. The bench is constructed in maple over dowel legs. The bench was produced by Winchendon and measures 18.25" x 48" x 31.5". This great piece would be a wonderful find in a resale shop or store featuring mid century finds.
I found these interesting pictures on Home Design 365. I was surprised to find a cross between concrete pipes and interior decorating. Here you see some guest houses made out of concrete pipes. Each pipe has a covering, small vent, bed, and a table lamp. I have to think that it may get a bit cramped while staying there! On the plus side, the weekly rates are probably very reasonable. The bathrooms do present a problem in this design. Via.
