Papermaster are magazine racks created by designer, Torbjörn Anderssen for Swedese Möbler. This product is constructed of laminated birch, oak, or walnut veneer. Papermaster has been shaped with two large pockets in which to store magazines or newspapers. I like the extra flanges off to each side of the piece. With the extra flanges, Papermaster has some of the aspects of an occasional table providing an extra surface upon which to decorate. Measurements: 33cm x 78 cm x 30 cm. Product: here.

Dutch company Safretti offers a stunning line of contemporary fireplaces. Featured in this article is "Curva" highlighting their creative designs where color is combined with function to create a wonderful adornment to any living room or bedroom. Curva was designed by Jan Des Bouvrie. The bottom picture does remind me of an ipod where the LCD screen has been replaced by an open flame. Via.

Baker Furniture's Jacques Garcia Collection is sophisticated to say the least and features a wide range of offerings for a "classically mature" interior design. The Cristobal two door chest features a smooth rectangular top over a two door chest carved in a stylized geometric design crafted from maple solids and veneers. Finished in Varnished Silver Leaf, this remarkable finish obtains its beauty from layering silver leaf over gold leaf that is hand-rubbed to evoke its warm silvery glow. If you like the Cristobal Chest the rest of the Jacques Garcia Collection is a must see at bakerfurniture.com. W 49 3/4 D 18 3/4 H 35 1/4 Suggested List $6,426 USD

When remodeling a kitchen, one of you biggest investments should be your appliances. There are so many brands, it is hard to know what to choose, but be sure to consult a qualified appliance showroom, not your local hardware store. Better yet, let your kitchen designer guide you to the showroom they use. This will provide a much smoother process for the designer, and will benefit you too. The designer gets the benefit of working with the same appliance dealership and sales person, who knows her clientele and what they are looking for. This way your designer can call in advance of your appointment (the mark of a good salesman is one you need an appointment to see) and let the sales person know a bit about your project, and most importantly, your budget. You are benefited several ways. First, the sales person already knows some of the details of your project, and you don't have to repeat yourself for the umpteenth time, and knows what kind of appliances to show you. Second, the sales person will have an idea of what your budget is for appliances, and because of his relationship with your designer, will not try to bully or over sale you on more expensive items you don't need. Shopping for appliances this way benefits everyone, and will take a lot of stress off the consumer.
There are literally hundreds of appliance manufactures, and it would be impossible to list them all, so to try to help keep things simple, the comparisons in this article will be mostly on American appliance companies from low-end to high-end. For ease of comparison, all appliances will be quoted in similar styles and stainless steel finishes.
