Checkered Upholstered Stool from Swedese Mobler

The black and white checkered stool is called Havana. Inside the checked pattern are small circles which change between white and black to create a cool pattern. These are fun colors to work with in a living room. I can picture this piece in a setting where the predominant furniture is solid white or solid black and Havana makes for an accent piece. It is a simple stool where its shape does not make too strong a design statement and the focus is on color and hopefully, bringing out a bit more color into your living room. Measurements: 66 cm x 66 cm x 41 cm. Product: here.

Michael Dreeben's Teak Coffee Table Inspired by Nature

Michael Dreeben is a furniture designer and sculptor in Chicago, Illinois. The teak coffee table showcases his ability as a master woodworker. This piece strikes me in two ways that create a contrast and at the same time draw me in to the beauty of the table. The top of the coffee table has strong influences from nature. The boards on top look as though they came off of the tree in their natural state and have been place here as a testament to their inherit beauty. The rest of the coffee table creates the contrast. It is perfectly constructed, arranged, and aligned into a planned project. The boards on the bottom are meticulously arranged so that there is no margin of error between them. The remaining frame as well is put together very carefully creating a perfectly balanced object. So at the top you have nature, and beneath you have planned construction and arrangement of shapes. Designing Rooms for Children

When designing a room for a child, so many things are possible. The room can be soft and subdued to calm a tense child, or loud and bold to really bring out the personality of other children. Themes can be used with such flair and can be a whimsical wonderland or a unique retreat for kids.

Unlike other rooms in your home, your children's rooms don't have to have the same flow as all of the other spaces in your home, however they should reflect a similar style that somewhat resembles the rest of your home.

Informal Traditional, cottage, or country style homes can support whimsical children's rooms similar to the ones below:

Girls Bedroom

This pretty in pink girl's room has touches of elegance and playful use of antique qualities. The gold leaf patterns on the walls and the bed give the space a rich look, as does the draped gold toned organza hanging behind the bed. Organza and a decorative cornice frame the headboard and make the bed the true focal point of the room. The distressing on the bed and side table gives the furnishings a well-used look that contrasts with the richly decorated headboard and drawer front. A heart shaped ottoman has been covered with splendid fabrics and trim that stand out against the distressed cabriole legs. Simple sheets with a small pattern and a solid colored comforter or quilt complement this style fabulously.
