Eco-Friendly Bed Sheets Made from Bamboo
An interesting household item in the eco-friendly arena are bamboo sheets. This bedding product is designed to replace "supima cotton" sheets that we many of us are accustomed to. It never ceases to amaze me the number of products that can be made from bamboo. The bedding is made from pulverized bamboo where the fiber is turned into fabric. The feel of the fabric is "silky" and sports a whopping 250 thread count. Like cotton, bamboo fabric breathes allowing a fair amount of temperature control and human comfort as a result. There are four colors available: flax, sand, white, and aqua. Pricing: queen sets - $189; king sets $239. Buy product: here.

If you've ever been to a textile factory where most bamboo fibers and fabrics are made, you'd see that it's far from eco-friendly. They use roughly the same process that is used for rayon (lotsa chemicals).
