An interesting household item in the eco-friendly arena are bamboo sheets. This bedding product is designed to replace "supima cotton" sheets that we many of us are accustomed to. It never ceases to amaze me the number of products that can be made from bamboo. The bedding is made from pulverized bamboo where the fiber is turned into fabric. The feel of the fabric is "silky" and sports a whopping 250 thread count. Like cotton, bamboo fabric breathes allowing a fair amount of temperature control and human comfort as a result. There are four colors available: flax, sand, white, and aqua. Pricing: queen sets - $189; king sets $239. Buy product: here.

A new trend I am seeing is the use of wine tumblers instead of stemware. I did not think much of it the first time I saw someone enjoying wine from these glasses, but I am seeing this more and more. The reasoning is quite simple. It is much harder to spill from a tumbler than from a stem. Further, some people have trouble putting down stemware without cracking the base. Perhaps, it is a vision issue or simply put an "impaired vision" issue. Nonetheless, wine tumblers are catching on. These glasses here are made by Riedel and are called "O Glasses". There are four models available designed for the following wines: cabernet, merlot, pinot noir, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc. Price range: $20 - $24 per glass. Buy product: here.
