Storage furniture is great as it serves a dual purpose as a place to put things away and that of a decorative piece in a home. "Lines" is a series from Ligne Roset that combines storage furniture with great contemporary looks. The sideboard is simply stunning where you can see the lines providing decorative detail that sets this piece apart from others on the market. The shelving unit is also wonderful for a person that wants to make a design statement in a contemporary home. The shelves not running at a 90 degree angle is an advanced concept that draws the attention of anyone seeing the shelving unit first hand. The sideboard comes in two sizes: 57" and 87". Prices: Sideboard - 57" - $5,220; 87" - $6,490; Shelving Unit: $4,325. Colors: white lacquer and anthracite. More information: here.

Designers Okamura & Marquardsen appropriately named this ultra modern coffee table the "Avocado". I like it for several reasons. It has a great look, it is nice and compact, and I could probably prop my feet up on the circular black pad making it a combination ottoman. The Avocado is made in Copenhagen, Denmark by Jorgen Christiansens Snedkeri A/S which will celebrate their 100 anniversary in 2010. It is obvious that this is one Danish modern manufacturer that puts a lot of emphasis on the modern despite their age.See the rest of the JC Snedkeri A/S collection here.

In a recent article we discussed an outdoor ceiling fan with blades shaped like palm leaves. This patio ceiling fan draws its inspiration from the islands as well, with its design based on a pineapple. Of course the pineapple is associated with being outdoors and thus fits as a decorative accessory for a patio. In the design, the manufacturer brings out the texture of the pineapple in the ceiling fan base. You can see the bumps that look just like a pineapple's skin. The fan blades match that of pineapple leaves. I do like the finish on the metal and think that this patio ceiling fan will blend well with most outdoor furniture. Price: $286. Buy product: here.

I have been in the Danish modern furniture game for quite a while now and know the Scandinavians are way out in front when in comes to longevity of style and design. Jørgen Høvelskov designed the Harp Chair in 1963 and almost 50 years later it still has an intriguing artistic appeal. The laid back angle and cord sling style seating allow the user to suspend them selves in a piece of furniture history inside or out back on the patio. Today Jørgen Christensens produces the Harp chair and ottoman in classic woods like Sebrano and in vibrant colors like lime green and hot pink. See the other Jørgen Christensens Danish modern furniture styles here.

No patio is complete without a ceiling fan to help "beat the heat" in warmer months. This outdoor ceiling fan is by Ellington and called "Tahiti". Now the first thing that strikes me about this design is the fan blades. The fan blades are shaped like palm leaves giving it a cool island feel that is perfect for outdoor decorating. I also like the darker finish on the metal parts of the fan. Being outside is going to create more weather for any outdoor ceiling fan so for that reason, I like to stay away from brass or nickel finishes. Price: $207. Buy product: here.
