Interior design and Feng Shui both rely on a balance of elements, space, colors, and correct dimensions for the complete look and feel. The new "Prosperity" bedroom furniture from Mark David was conceived with the help of international architectural design firm Wilson Associates and Feng Shui consultant SynerCh'i to tastefully create a balanced and harmonious environment. The practice of Feng Shui is becoming a part of today's interior design process as people become more aware of their surroundings. The Prosperity Collection incorporates the concepts of the five elements of fire, wood, metal, earth, and water in a perfect symmetry to enhance any space. See the entire collection of Mark David furniture designed with the interior design and hospitality markets in mind here.

The Aubergine sofa is a fine example of contemporary furniture design created by Xavier Lust. The striking element for me is the wonderful shape of the sofa. The view from above highlights the distinct curve that follows the sofa from left to right. Even from behind, the view of Aubergine elicits a wonderful backdrop for a living room. I find the overall shape of Aubergine to be tasteful and frankly, quite cool. Measurements: 103cm x 213cm x 112cm. More information: here.

Unusual furniture is nothing new to designer Richard Hutton, and the Cloud Chair is another such addition to his portfolio. The "Cloud Chair" made by Gallery Ormond in Geneva is constructed from nickel plated cast-aluminum and will make its debut in Milan next month. Of course this design is far beyond the norm however designer products often make it into mainstream markets, but for now the production is limited. See more Richard Hutton furniture, objects, and spaces here.

Over at DesignBoom they ran an interesting post from the Singapore Furniture Fair where they showcased products from the Air Design Group. One product that caught my eye was a concealed bookshelf. It almost looks like a drawer on its side or a part of a wall. Inside, when the drawer is pulled out, it reveals a hidden bookshelf and light. There is a separator on the right hand side of the drawer which serves as a bookmark for the book you wish to "tuck away". Via: DesignBoom.

Kitchen appliances are getting smarter because designers are identifying with the user experience and working to overcome adversity and make even the most ordinary products even better than they are. Student designer Angeline Meloche from the University of New South Wales answers the food freshness and placement issue with the Celsius modular refrigerator which is configured by the "user". The Celsius features a touch-sensitive control panel on the door of each cabinet which includes five temperature presets giving users the ability to store food correctly, maintaining freshness and storage lifetime. Full-extension drawers and pantry-style cabinets allow for optimal space usage with the same footprint as a conventional refrigerator. Other features include custom inserts providing for fruit, vegetables, meat & fish, dairy, bottles, and wine storage, and an LCD screen, which not only helps the user to monitor and locate food items, but also fosters an awareness of correct storage conditions.
