The costs of home construction can be great when you add in all the features that you want. Stone veneer is one way to keep costs lower by forgoing using natural stone in the home's construction. I am a skeptic when it comes to stone veneer as I love the beauty of natural stone particularly in architecture. In "16 Stone Veneer Houses that You Must See" I thought that our readers can judge from themselves the look of the product. I must say that on first glance the product passes the test. I have not had a chance to "place my hands" on the product so if someone has, please leave a comment for others to read. These pictures are courtesy of Eldorado Stone whose site can be found here.

Today I am talking chandeliers and presenting 6 of them from the Charles Loomis lighting collection. These models vary in construction between crystal and glass. My favorite is the chandelier shaped like a flower bouquet. Its overall shape is simple and a small enough format to work in many sizes of dining rooms. Its round shape is tasteful with the flower shapes bringing out a nice decorative touch. The others are a bit more expressive ranging from a plant to a near disco ball. See the rest of the Charles Loomis collection here.

The question between a sofa, chair or bench is one that many families wrestle with as they determine what makes for the best living room furniture combination. Another option is having more unique living room furniture such as "Oskar" by Dune. How do you classify these pieces? Oskar challenges our perception between a sofa, bench and chair. Without the back rest it looks a lot like a bench. The lack of arms and the large space underneath the seat give the appearance that it is not a sofa or chair. Oskar provides enough of an abstract feel to let each person decide what type of unique living room furniture it may be classified as. Product information: here.
This is not the seven dollar plastic chair you see at the local retailer! Mas stackable chairs are made by Dune Furniture as part of their living collection. The nice thing about the stackable chairs is there cool design. The legs are made of aluminum which combined with the polyurethane top create a colorful play between metal and plastic. Mas can be used indoors or outdoors adding to its flexibility. More information can be found on the Dune site here.
The down side of more technology is its dependence on power and hence the need for unsightly cables. Power cables and data cables often stretch across the field of vision and detract from the natural beauty of a room. There are new ways to hide cables in both the kitchen and home office area. I bring up the kitchen area since there are so many small appliances that litter our countertops as well as the television and laptop that have found their way in there. These concealed examples of data and power outlets might give you some ideas as you build your home office or kitchen. The fact remains that we will continue to have electrical devices so why don't we plan for them. Pictures via: Mockett & Company.
