Casa Segrada - New Mexico House Blending Asian and Southwestern Architecture

Casa Segrada was a project by Archaeo Architects where they faced a unique challenge. The family was creating a New Mexico house on a 20 acre heavily wooded lot. Their goal was to keep as many of the trees as possible to preserve the natural landscape. The challenge of building on a rocky hillside was a big factor in the footprint and shape. Additionally, the family wanted to combine Asian and Southwestern architecture in way that flowed with the New Mexico lifestyle. Archaeo drew inspiration from traditional Japanese folk house design using a pitched roof and hand crafted wood joinery. The views are breathtaking from the home as is the thought of lounging on the porch with the dogs. Source: Archaeo Architects.
