When it comes to furniture design its hard not to be a fan of Established & Sons. They have great contemporary designs that always stimulate interest while challenging the imagination. This video showcases their installation at Pelota at the Milan Furniture Fair. The video is cool as it shows how they built the showcase which later housed their furniture on display for the Milan event. The stand was built from Tullip wood supplied by the American Hardwood Export Council. Via.
We love multifunction furniture here at FF as well as the sleek modern lines of the Gorge coffee table / magazine rack from designer Ramei Keum who states, when designing this space age coffee table "I strived to put it in a form so that elements composing of a table such as a top board and legs may become one element, not individual elements". Korean born Keum who has a variety of furniture, lighting, and consumer products to his credit received a Red Dot Design Award in 2007. See his entire collection of products here. I grabbed some video highlights from the recent Milan Furniture Fair. There are three videos in this post that highlight showcased products and interviews with designers and attendees. Each of the videos offer a different perspective from the event. You can see just from these snippets the incredible amount of products on display in MIlan. Furniture Fashion received several invitations to attend, but could not make this year's event. We hope to get to Milan next year and participate in the event first hand. Via.
Modular and lighting are usually two concepts that don't go together, what you see is what you get. The "Ameba" on the other hand features an organic winding series of shapes that allow you to be the architect with endless possibilities that adapt to your living space and requirements. Designer Pete Sans comprised this cool modern pendant lighting system from five different shapes that can be used in as little as two pieces. Produced by Vibia in Barcelona, Spain.
I love to see radical new furniture like the Nefertiti Lounge designed by anOtherArchitect. With design studios in Germany and Denmark, anOtherArchitect is moved by urban design and environmental issues which shape their creative influence as evidenced in projects such as the Nefertiti Lounge. The architects on this project were Daniel Dendra, Marwan Fayed and Renaud Schwartz. The lounge just debuted at the Furnex Contemporary Furniture Fair in Cairo held in early June. You can see from the pictures the possibilities in seating and the imaginative energy that went into this piece. Via.
