René Sulc has an eye for design as evidenced in the chaise furniture presented in this article. This piece reminds me of architecture in how the shapes and curves are so well defined that they seem so planned out much like a sophisticated house plan. You have to go all the way back to 1937 and the World's Fair in Paris to remember when Alvar Aalto introduced his Tea Trolleys made from bent birch plywood, tile, and rattan. These Tea Trolleys feature the process of bent wood curved into loops that are strong and light which he used in much of his iconic furniture. Today Aalto's trolleys are in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art where visitors can take part in his belief that "objects are made to be completed by the human mind." You see a lot of things on the internet, but perhaps this is the craziest looking sofa in the world. As readers, I will leave that up to you to decide. About this piece, it was designed as a public seating system and is called "Montebello". The sofa was part of the permanent exhibition called "A Review" featuring Austrian Architecture in the 20th and 21st centuries at the Architecture Center Vienna.
