Retro furniture is in and Modernica of Los Angeles has reissued the famous "Shell Chair" that some of us may remember from the 1950's. The last go round for the Shell Chair series was 1983 and of coarse the cool colors are part of the flash back appeal, and Modernica has all the bases covered from pink to green. There is a Shell Chair for every situation from bar stools, office chairs on wheels, dining chairs, and even a rocking version with wooden base. Prices start at $235 for the Low Rod Chair and peak at $475 for the Dowel Bar Stool. Shell Dimension 18.25''W x 20''D x 18''H (Without Base) See Them Here
As we promised in a previous post, Furniture Fashion will show you some of the modern chairs and sofa seating from spHaus, and here they are. As you can see bold shapes and colors make a dramatic statement that is not for everyone unless you are into innovative modern furniture. Once again spHaus called on top designers like Filippo Dell' Orto, and Dodo Arsian for stunning and original designs. My favorite is the "Apple" shown here in Pea Green and Tomato Red that has a few hidden features that aid in its surprising comfort. First the split back actually flexes together and compresses with the users weight offering a spring effect, and a hidden rocker mechanism makes this the coolest rocking chair you may ever see.
Eduardo Baroni of Brazil has a good eye for unique furniture that is great looking and in the case of these two rocking chairs, quite functional as well. The "Thinking Machine Chair" designed for Sintesi has a very informal look and invites us to relax in a rather kicked back version of the age old rocking chair. A smooth contoured plastic seat floats on a light metal structure that features a slightly bent base for a nice effortless rocking experience. The Zonza "rocking chaise" also from Barboni, and made by Moveis Schuster makes an entirely new statement from a piece that usually doesn't rock. Barboni's indoor / outdoor rocking chaise just received the IBAMA Movelsul award for the use of Brazilian jequitibá, an alternative wood. Eduardo Barboni goal is to create "new and exciting furniture designs that surprise by their freshness with simplicity, lightness, low cost and novelty".
Here is an interesting piece of vintage modern furniture from the 1950s. This is a lounge chair by Warren Platner. Lehigh Leopold was the manufacturer for this chair and at the time had a line of desks featuring other Planter pieces. The walnut sides create a great vintage look which complimented the line of office desks as you can imagine writing atop a desk of with this color wood. The Platner chair was finished with a chrome base and leather upholstery. In today's market, this lounge chair would be around $1,500.
As I was browsing the internet this morning I came across the website for Garsnas Furniture. I was looking in their "easy/lounge chair" section for some ideas on accent furniture. As a blogger some times it can be hard to make up your ideas about what piece to do a story on. I was thinking that I would let you decide which piece is right for your home. Thus, I decided to feature 11 accent chair ideas and pictures to offer suggestions about what types of products are out there. Often, accent furniture is harder to find since it is not "showcased" in furniture stores as much as larger pieces like sofas, sectionals, and bedroom sets. Hopefully, these images can give you some ideas about what may be a nice fit inside your home or apartment. Take a moment and comment to let us know about your favorite or if you like any of these at all. Via.

I really like a lounge chair called the "Slow Chair" as it conjures up thoughts of really relaxing and taking it easy. Designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec took a piece of modern technology and used an extremely strong, precisely knitted shaped fabric which is stretched over the metal frame like a fitted stocking to suspend the user in style. As you can imagine the conforming sling provides comfort and support which is further enhanced by thin seat and back cushion resulting in a design that is lightweight and generously proportioned. The Slow Chair is prefect for a living room setting, bedroom, or any where you desire to compliment your contemporary décor. Available Here

As I was browsing for new furniture ideas, I came across a site that had a wide variety of contemporary seating stools. Usually, I find an example here and example there, but not several different sizes and models all in one site. Stools are great additions for any home as there seems to always be a need to offer seating in several places in the home. Another advantage is the portability of small furniture since it gives you flexibility in home decorating. These examples all came from the website for Bcrea Furniture.
The first two pictures feature the Solo and Solo Plus. The main difference in the "Plus" is its thicker cushion. The third photo is the Blox which features a "decorative cube" look that is common on the market today. The fourth image is that of the Tubo, a tall cylinder shaped leather stool. You can see that this stool is the perfect height for a counter or kitchen island. Lastly is the Salto featuring a unique shaped seating design making it a cool poolside piece of outdoor furniture. Bcrea Furniture is a Dutch company producing home décor with a contemporary theme. The Lomo occasional chair pictured here is a great piece from their collection. White leather is always striking creating a great contrast in most homes. White gained popularity two years ago and continues to be popular on the furniture market. Lomo appears as a "V' on its side with the contrast between the seat and the backrest. Cool angles highlight the chair coupled with jet-setting legs creating a stimulating overall visual appeal. Via.
