"Dragonfly" is a product of chaise furniture where a lounge is combined with a swivel chair. Now, I find this design to be particularly flexible, since the furniture can be adapted to the situation. When opened up fully, you can see how relaxing this piece is. You probably don't want your guests to see you sitting in this chair! However, if they are coming over, you can fold up the bottom half of the lounge, and you have a great swivel chair for a guest to sit on. This clever chaise was designed by Karim Rashid who has brought so many great designs to the furniture world. More information: here.

I have been in the Danish modern furniture game for quite a while now and know the Scandinavians are way out in front when in comes to longevity of style and design. Jørgen Høvelskov designed the Harp Chair in 1963 and almost 50 years later it still has an intriguing artistic appeal. The laid back angle and cord sling style seating allow the user to suspend them selves in a piece of furniture history inside or out back on the patio. Today Jørgen Christensens produces the Harp chair and ottoman in classic woods like Sebrano and in vibrant colors like lime green and hot pink. See the other Jørgen Christensens Danish modern furniture styles here.

The "Wiggle Chair" by Frank Gehry proves that cardboard can be more than something furniture gets packed in, it can be the furniture itself. This award winning design by one of society's most important architects, calls on his skills to create a chair that is tested to hold thousands of pounds despite its lightweight construction. The Wiggle Chair and companion Side Chair are Frank Gehry signature pieces and produced by Vitra of 60 layers of corrugated cardboard held together by hidden screws and fiber-board edging. Like the magazine says, some times "simple living" is better. That is the case in the Wave Stool from Viva Terra. This nice decorative furniture piece serves as a stool or perhaps a small table. Then again it can hold some books or other decorative accents making it a storage unit as well. In summary, the Wave Stool is subtle and flexible. I like it since it can take up a small amount of space in a room and stir the imagination of guests as to its purpose. Dimensions: 24" x 14" x 15.5". Price: $249. Buy product: here.
