White living room furniture always catches my attention and makes me think of clean modern design. Pictured here are Kono leather armchairs. I love the design and style of these pieces. These would make wonderful accent or occasional chairs in modern living room decorating. The element that grabs my attention the most is its shape. Kono comes from a very round shape almost resembling a cylinder that has been cut out into backrest, arms, and seating area. Hans J Wegner's Papa Bear Chair (1951) formerly known as the Teddy Bear is my idea of classical mid-century modern furniture that will never face the calendar in a stand off with "out of date". The pseudo wing back design and tufts offer a timeless appeal that Wegner's famous Scandinavian chairs have become well known for. The Papa Bear PP19 was re-released in 2003 in a selection of fabrics and leathers starting at a manufacturer's list price of just over $12K 35.4" W x 37.4" D x 39.8" H
The Avalon fiberglass furniture collection by Niedermaier has two great examples where fiberglass has been crafted into contemporary occasional chairs. These chairs feature great shapes characterized by the way fiberglass can create a silky smooth surface that is much different than wood.
