Among the new products from Artifort's chair and seating collection for this year is the Magnolia chair from designer Jacco Bregonje. According to Bergonje the Magnolia armchair "combines the better of two worlds: design and architecture. The organic shell seat is fully foam-filled and provides fantastic comfort and fits perfectly into the celebrated Artifort collection". This eye catcher works well for reception areas or for a nicely decorated modern home. See the entire Artifort furniture collection here including the rest of this years additions. The bone chaise lounge takes it name from the resemblance to a vertebrae found in the human back. In this piece the creator has fused minimalism and contemporary design. There is little extra to the chaise lounge, but the necessary elements highlighted by shape and form. This piece was designed by Christophe Moinat to be built in foam, leather, and fabric. Via.

La Cividina has created this unique furniture design called Folies Bergere armchairs. My first impression is that the overall shape of the chairs is very different and "ulta-modern". In particular, the high backrest almost seems whimsical in its interpretation by the designer. The small, rounded seating base reminds me of the shape and size of an ottoman. Construction consists of leather or fabric upholstery atop a wooden frame with a metal swivel base. Measurements: 88 cm x 78cm x 144 cm. Available: here.

Retro furniture is in and Modernica of Los Angeles has reissued the famous "Shell Chair" that some of us may remember from the 1950's. The last go round for the Shell Chair series was 1983 and of coarse the cool colors are part of the flash back appeal, and Modernica has all the bases covered from pink to green. There is a Shell Chair for every situation from bar stools, office chairs on wheels, dining chairs, and even a rocking version with wooden base. Prices start at $235 for the Low Rod Chair and peak at $475 for the Dowel Bar Stool. Shell Dimension 18.25''W x 20''D x 18''H (Without Base) See Them Here

As we promised in a previous post, Furniture Fashion will show you some of the modern chairs and sofa seating from spHaus, and here they are. As you can see bold shapes and colors make a dramatic statement that is not for everyone unless you are into innovative modern furniture. Once again spHaus called on top designers like Filippo Dell' Orto, and Dodo Arsian for stunning and original designs. My favorite is the "Apple" shown here in Pea Green and Tomato Red that has a few hidden features that aid in its surprising comfort. First the split back actually flexes together and compresses with the users weight offering a spring effect, and a hidden rocker mechanism makes this the coolest rocking chair you may ever see.
