Today as I was looking around I found three great benches from Pottery Barn Furniture. A bench is a great way to have a stylish piece of furniture that can fit along a wall and not take up too much space. Besides the benefit of fitting into a small space, a bench offers flexibility when you need extra seating. Rarely, do we max out our seating in the home, but it can happen on occasion. A bench can come quickly to the rescue! The three benches that caught my eye were the Blanca Settee, the Caitlin Bench, and the Kilim Bench.
The Blanca Settee features a traditional, classy look. A great feature of this piece is the wide array of fabric colors offered by Pottery Barn Furniture. By my count, there are 73 color or pattern options for Blanca making this sure to match the colors of your home. Product: Blanca Settee. Price: $749- $899. Dimensions: 54 x 20 x 25" h.

The Caitlin Bench features a large cushion covered in neutral color fabric. The wood frame and legs are finished in antique white. By adding a few colors from your homes with a throw blanket or decorative pillows, this bench becomes one with your home's décor. This bench also works in a bedroom as a place to stack pillows and linens when removed from the bed. Product: Caitlin Bench. Price: $299.00. Dimensions: 45 x 20 x 17" h.

The Kilim Bench makes a much stronger statement than the other two benches. Featuring bold rich colors, patterned fabric, and espresso stained wood, Kilim is sure to draw the eye of any house guest. I envision this piece in a lodge or a home where the colors are bolder. The fire and rugged carpet from the picture give me the image of a ski chalet housing these two benches. Product: Kilim Bench. Price: $499.00. Dimensions: 48.5 x 20.5 x 14.5" h.

Blu Dot has a cool way of bringing us retro styled modern furniture for a very accessible price. The ButterCup Rocker has a rather Charles Eames look which is very different than the typical rocking chair we are used to seeing. The ButterCup rocking chair is available in graphite on oak, rift-sawn white oak and walnut with a brushed stainless steel base for $849. The ButterCup swivel chair once again makes the best of extremely durable bent plywood if you are not at your rocking chair stage just yet $759. Blu Dot is a great source for all original modern designs that compliment an up to date contemporary décor with a retro touch.

The Lofty chaise lounge and chairs from MDF Italia bring futuristic furniture designs to current day. I could easily picture these seating options in a science fiction movie set in the year 2050. I was particularly taken by the stainless steel versions. Imagine the work required to shape stainless steel into these forms? I saw where production runs on stainless steel are limited which is not surprising considering the effort required to create these. The only drawback is that I have not had a chance to sit in one to test it for comfort. Looks are important and cool, but I do demand a bit of comfort while sitting. The other Lofty chaise lounge and chairs pictured are covered in fabric upholstery. There are other color options available including lime green. Available from MDF Italia. Here is another release from Meridiani Home that will be most inviting after a long day on the job. The Liu Skin chair series offers a casual look and a touch of tradition with its shelter height and wing style back. The tailoring has been left a little loose and less formal for a not so serious feel. This seating series includes three chairs all with a similar theme each with unique features. Designed for daily use, the Liu Skin chair and optional ottoman makes the perfect accent chair available in leather or fabric with conforming lumbar pillow. Also shown, Liu Relax Chaise is the perfect place to curl up or stretch out depending on you mood. Available from Spencer Interiors starting at $2699

These bar stools are made by the Cherner Chair Company founded by the sons of Norman Cherner in 1999. Owning the copyrights to the original designs, the sons started manufacturing many of his mid century classic chairs, tables, and stools to meet modern demand. The original techniques are still employed where layers of laminate are stacked on top of one another and then shaped into the form of the chair, table, or stool. Available in the following colors: beech, walnut, ebony, orange, white, and walnut seat with ebony base. Price: $649-$679.
