B&B Italia doesn't follow trends, they set them and having designers like Antonio Citterio always helps. The recently expanded Luis-JJ collection has grown to include this revised armchair that was recreated in the form of a rocking chair. The classically smooth mix of wood, steel, woven fabric and optional fir come together in a rocking chair that beats my idea of the typical retirement chair. See the rest of Antonio Citterio's Luis-JJ collection and find a B&B Italia dealer here.

I think the splinter chair speaks for itself in looking at the image. This chair was designed for Matthew Kroeker for Jane Hamley Wells. It is constructed of teak and stainless steel and measures 30.2" h x 27.0" w x 21.5" d. It is possible to purchase just the "left" or "right" version or purchase as a set. Buy product: here.
Here is a truly innovative folding chair from designers Ufuk Keskin and Efecem Kutuk that can literally be flattened to fit in a 3/4″ space. The SheetSeat is made from a sheet of plywood which is durable and can tuck under a bed and other small spaces for storage. The SheetSeat was featured at this year's IDSA during the New York Design Week and Design Within Reach's M+D+F. We have a fondness for innovative and small space furniture here at FF, and this chair fits both descriptions quite well.
Here is a submission from Isak Furniture called the "Fly Me to the Moon Chair". It was designed by Sigurd Strom and Torstein Nilsen who each reside in Norway. The chair won the Norwegian Design Council's "Design Excellence Award" in 2008. The Design Council described the chair as "a rigid design providing a beautiful frame around anyone who sits in it. The chair is stylish and minimalist, with exquisite details and proportions, and is equally elegant from all sides. In spite of its clear and simple design it can fill a demanding room." You can see more great products at the Isak Life website.

Based on the Aqua Creations Anana Collection designer Ayala Serfaty adds the Anana Bench which like its predecessors "is hand-made from down-filled pods covered in high-end fabric by Creation Baumann, creating an organic geometry, which is both remarkably sturdy and sensually free-form". The Anana Bench was released this year at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile and offers a free form seating surface in a single color or multiple composition of eight. Pictured with the bench are the chair and armchair that feature legs and buttons made of bronze-finished brass. Custom sizing and shapes available. See more about the Aqua Creations Anana collection here.
