DellaRobbia is no stranger to glamorous modern furniture made right here in the USA, and despite their location, the collection has a distinctly European flair. Teaming up with designer Javier Polarmos has resulted in a beautiful collection of modern coffee tables that feature bent glass, each with unique qualities visually and functionally. Polarmos included a split design with contrasting colors for the "Axis" allowing for a versatile arrangement, and a two level design for the "Metro" perfect for displaying decorative objects without giving up the table surface (shown in white with clear top). The "Eden" also features a two tear design but this time contrasting T shaped glass and base make a look that really pops and breaks up the square shape. I know the "Tectra" square coffee table with four storing stools will be a big hit when the friends come over, and the fabrics used here will also add some color to any living room setting. In "Cavea" come metal side tables with a link to the past, but a look to the present. Beside the glass top version, there are multiple options in a stone top surface to include: marble, limestone and granite. There are multiple options within each type of stone that create different color palettes. For me the stone top surface is reminiscent of older tables dating as far back as the 1800s that may be found at a quality antique dealer. Cavea creates a modern version combining polished metal with stone top surfaces. The metal bases are available in satin stainless steel, polished stainless steel and statuary bronze. More information on these metal side tables can be found here.

We love multifunction furniture here at FF as well as the sleek modern lines of the Gorge coffee table / magazine rack from designer Ramei Keum who states, when designing this space age coffee table "I strived to put it in a form so that elements composing of a table such as a top board and legs may become one element, not individual elements". Korean born Keum who has a variety of furniture, lighting, and consumer products to his credit received a Red Dot Design Award in 2007. See his entire collection of products here. Here is an interesting chess table created by Front Design for Moooi. This is not your typical stodgy gaming table, but a checkered version that comes to life. This table is just not for gaming as it could be worked in a black and white decorating theme in a contemporary setting. I keep thinking "Alice in Wonderland" this morning as I write the story. In some ways this table is so bold it reminds me of the great work of literature where many objects come to life. Via.
Restoration Hardware wasn't kidding this time, they really did restore some vintage hardware (furniture factory carts) that just so happen to make a rather nostalgic coffee table. Veteran furniture maker Michael Vermillion painstakingly restored each cart renewing the cast iron and reconditioning the wood piece by piece and reassembling them in their original order. I think the character of these carts once used in the early 1900's to transport furniture and fabrics across factory floors really adds an old world touch with their unique distressed marks and imperfections. $910 28"W x 53"L x 16"H Approximately From Restoration Hardware
