This pear shaped vase is on the cover of the latest Viva Terra catalog. The piece caught my eye and made me say, "that looks pretty cool". I would not consider a pear a shape that I would associate in a vase, but in this example it has a nice look to it. The vase is constructed of recycled glass and measures 14" tall and 9" deep. It can also be used as a terrarium. For the terrarium, a few plants and sand is sent to create a miniature desert landscape that requires minimal maintenance. There is a hole on one side that provides access to the inside of the vase and allows you to place in flowers, water, or other objects. Price: vase only - $49; terrarium set - $79. A nice wall accent is a great way to spruce up the look of a living room, bedroom, or dining room. That being said, it is often difficult to find the right piece that is tasteful, matches colors, and fits the decorating style of the home. This piece is called "cracked ice" and is fittingly named based on its design inspiration. It is constructed of small triangles that artisans place by hand into a rectangular décor unit. I find this piece to be transitional and therefore able to work in traditional decorated homes as well as those with modern themes. Some times it is nice to have a more abstract piece than that of a portrait, landscape, or another scene that you my tire of in a few years. Measurements: 49" x 17". Price: $159. Buy product: here.

Mirrors and televisions are certainly two items that are best when mounted on the wall, and the Hi Mirror from Valli Arredobagno combines a multi-media experience in the most unlikely of places. This super sleek series of six modern mirrors are in addition to a great place to see a likeness of your self, a weather station, clock, radio, and even a television. Designers Gabriele and Oscar Buratti wrapped the stylish "Hi Mirror" with a black or white lacquered metal frame on the outside, and everything you need to be entertained in your bathroom, bedroom, or living room on the inside. This is a great example of how the electronics, and home furnishings makers are integrating their products together in smaller multi-functional items intended to save space and make our live better.
