The Mosaic House designed by TNA Architects of Japan proves a home doesn't need a large foot print to make a big impression. At first glance it is obvious that this seemingly clean cut home has some unusual qualities, and I would say the designers made the best of an otherwise boring piece of real estate. As a minimalist I simply love the openness and uncluttered feel of the structure that has wood floors and ceilings in the bottom floors, and a full size sky light to brighten up the top floor with natural sunlight. This type of home works perfectly with the light modern furniture shown in some of the pictures which add to the character and shows up well in this type of environment. See the rest of the interesting modern residential architecture from Makoto Takei and Chie Nabeshima of TNA Architects here.

The Miami home pictures featured in this article show a property designed by Touzet Studio that is currently being offered for sale by David Solomon. The home is of modern design and measures 12,000 square feet. It sits on Biscayne Bay which is a prime real estate location for anyone living in the Miami area. The Biscayne Bay area is a most exclusive area in Florida where many stars have homes. The bay area is protected by a peninsula and yet has access to the Atlantic Ocean for yachts and large sailboats. My impression in looking at the pictures is the home owner's fascination with using white as the primary color for the home's interior design. I can't say that I have seen its use as much as I have in this property. Having lived in the Miami area for two years I can tell you that white is a popular color in both house design and home furnishings. Via. David Solomon.

Japanese architecture has a Zen like quality that makes the onlooker enjoy the simplicity of the elements and how well they work with nature. Japanese architect and architectural historian Terunobu Fujimori also a professor at the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo began his work late in life, 19 years ago at the age of 44. Fujimori takes a hands on approach in his conception of some of Japan's most startlingly original buildings and homes and is more interested in actual building than in the design. He fell into the business after he was commissioned to design a small history museum for a local family in his village.

Here is a fine example of contemporary architecture in Beverly Hills, California. The "Brosmith Residence" embodies the spirit of contemporary design in the use of shape as it spills out on a hill overlooking Mulholland Scenic Parkway. The house is built in small pods creating separation as you move from room to room. Each pod has a distinct rectangular shape where lines are clean and well defined. Privacy is difficult in the Los Angeles area and herein the design helps create that separation. Outdoor spaces are aligned with indoor spaces as you can see from the dining room picture. There are sliding doors that create an opening to a patio to let the California weather become part of the dining experience. This is a single-family residence measuring 4,500 square feet. The design was created by SPFA architects.

This cozy and traditional Japanese Teahouse in the foothills between Hloubetin and Aloisov in Prague offers a relaxing place to gather and have tea with friends or hideaway and meditate. Architect David Maštálka of A1 Architects used only seven square meters in the design of this earthy room that features a circular dome roof and a hearth where tea is prepared for its inhabitants. I think I could use a room like this to escape and relax for a while without the rest of the world. Via
