Not long ago Austin, Texas was deemed the new "silicon valley" and with it came a young breed of millionaires who developed the beautiful hill country in to an oasis of stellar luxury homes and rustic mansions. Much of the real estate and the interior design is geared to compliment the natural surroundings and feature wood and stone work with a sophisticated edge. Here is a small sampling of what you will see if you take a visit to my favorite state capital, and by the way the food and night life is the best around.

Cast Architecture took on a project to remodel the Greenwater cabin in Washington state. The family wanted to expand its space by adding three bedrooms while transforming the rustic cabin into a modern vacation home. The results came out wonderfully as evidenced in the pictures. My personal favorite is how they engineered the kitchen with a roll up door that can be opened to the outside, thus connecting the indoor and outdoor space to the meadow beyond the house. What a great idea for entertaining to create an easy entrance/exit when weather permits. The other rooms were fashioned in modern design supporting the overall theme the family was targeting. Via.

Santa Fe homes are known for their unique southwestern architecture found in that part of the country which disappears even as you travel just one state away from New Mexico. This picture gallery features the Seade residence designed by Archaeo Architects. It is nestled on a mountain overlooking the town providing close proximity to the cultural assets of the city and yet embraces seclusion and privacy. The design was inspired by the hill towns in Italy where levels in the home were built around the varying elevation of the mountains. The varying elevation creates unique space planning challenges in the home and places constraints on the overall architectural project. The theme of the home features traditional southwestern styling and home décor. Via.

"Sea Forever" is a remarkable luxury beach house property on the prestigious Seven Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands. Seven Mile Beach is the extension on the northwest side of the island close to George Town Harbor that is famous for its amazing hotels, beaches, and shopping district. This property is really a mansion totaling 10,000 square feet of space in a three level format. The property comes with a gourmet kitchen, caretaker's apartment, home gym, storage space for diving equipment, beach side shower room, and a portico patio with an edge pool. Perhaps, one of the most stunning views is the beach from the living room which features two story windows looking out to the ocean. The portico and pool is a nice decorative touch that certainly creates the "mansion feel". I would probably change out some of the furniture for something more modern, but that can be easily replaced. As a blogger, this is a bit out of my price range, but maybe there is an inheritance out there I am unaware of. Price: $10,775,000. Via.

When it comes to NYC living creating a space is a unique experience since so many floor plans are determined by their owners. These NYC condo pictures feature an architectural wonder created by Steve Blatz and featured in Interior Design magazine. The property is located at 14 East 33rd Street and is designed as a working and living space. Total square footage is 4,444 with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 10 rooms total based on the clever setup of interior walls. The first design element to grab my intention is the interior walls. The walls are free standing and cleverly placed to divide up space into living and work sections. The decorative walls are constructed of bands of ash wood. The effect infuses Japanese architectural influence into the overall design which creates a unique experience as you go visually from room to room through the condo. Furniture is well placed throughout the home and not overpowering supporting the open space interior design theme. Other features of this NYC condo include: 12.2 tall ceiling heights, 50 foot window walls on front and back with a bay window in the living room, and a 6 x 37 foot terrace. Price: $3,000,000. Via.
