The beauty of the mountains is majestic and special when it comes to architecture. The residence here is the Whistler Cay house measuring a whopping 5,000 square feet. The home is nestled in Whistler, Canada on a stunning mountain backdrop with wonderful views of the resort. The furnishings inside the home are beautiful as well. The fireplace is perfect and speaks of a ski resort style. I find the home interior to be very inviting and warm, perfect after a long day of skiing. Though not in the pictures are the many terraces outside the home. These have been designed for family use and even include an outdoor fireplace for the family. One of the challenges was building this home on a mountain grade. The residence was designed by AKA Architects and can be found here. Via.

I live in a town home so I know how space design can provide additional challenges when it comes to decorating. In particular, a narrower width can be limiting as each room is decorated. I was excited to find these pictures from the interior of a town home in Tijuana, Mexico. These properties were designed by 103 and are known as the Chapultepec Space. One of the striking elements common to this theme is the darker floors versus the whiter walls. It creates quite a contrast when taken in. The dark furniture seems to tie the floors and walls together to further contribute to the overall design. Via.

I was blown away when I saw the indoor pool designs created by Manuel OcaƱa. The amazing thing about this project is that this was a refurbishment of an old house. My first impression was "new construction", but as I read on I learned more of the project. This home is in Madrid, Spain and it measures 8 x 8 meters. That size does not give a lot of room to work with. The history is that the couple insisted on the installation of an indoor pool as part of the new house plans. I sure would like to meet that couple and take in a swim. Via.

I found these interesting pictures on Home Design 365. I was surprised to find a cross between concrete pipes and interior decorating. Here you see some guest houses made out of concrete pipes. Each pipe has a covering, small vent, bed, and a table lamp. I have to think that it may get a bit cramped while staying there! On the plus side, the weekly rates are probably very reasonable. The bathrooms do present a problem in this design. Via.

Lior Vaknin is a young designer from Israel who became interested in design at an early age. As a child Lior spent time building tree houses outdoors, later working for a design firm, and finally seeking a formal education in design. He now heads up design work at Prototype Designers based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Lior was kind enough to send me pictures of a recent project featuring a barber shop design in Rehovot, Israel. Drawing upon the human hair strand as inspiration, Lior created this wonderful contemporary salon. I was fascinated by the wonderful shapes and imagery of the interior and how the shapes flow and move together. My reaction is much like the possibilities with the human hair strand in the way of its color, shape, and size as it relates to personal hair style. For more information: Lior Vaknin.
