When asked where interior designers get their inspiration, most of us will tell you that it comes from many sources. It is true we have a keen eye for color, texture, pattern, and scale, but we seek sources of inspiration from time to time. When put on the spot, we may not be able to name all of our inspirational material, but much of it comes from real life experiences or images that we see in trade publications. Travel is one of a designer's greatest assets, especially to places most people never see or are unaware of. When I want to produce a look for a special client who wants something different, crisp, refreshing, or eclectic, I often look to Boutique Hotel designs to inspire me. I have collected some of my favorite inspirational photos and will give some brief explanations of the spaces, which will hopefully give you some ideas on how to implement these looks in your own home.

I came across this article featuring a home currently for sale in the hills of Hollywood, California. Referred to as the "Bader" house, this property is currently on the market for $5.9 million. Certainly, a property of this caliber is out of reach for most of us, but that does not mean that we can't take a peek, right? Well, that is the plan here. I was able to get some great pictures of home interiors which showcase some stunning modern furniture and great overall house design. These pictures are worth the look as they may give you some decorating ideas for your own property. Via.

Project Fudomae is an urban living apartment complex featuring cool and unique windows. A departure from typical building standards, the windows draw upon contemporary influence with a "dare to be different" theme. In actuality, the apartment units themselves are very small totaling only 18 meters of space. Each unit does come with a kitchen, bathroom, and living room providing the basics of living needs. These units can be found in Tokyo, Japan where space comes at a super premium. Via.

The Baltazar residence is located in San Deigo, California. The modern house pictures speak to the wonderful decorating performed by the family. Though the space is small, rooms like the kitchen and living room have been transformed into great havens for the family. I particularly like the use of windows and how the light "enlarges" the feeling of each room. Via.

These interesting pictures feature a weekend cabin found in Styria, Austria. Called the Amalia house, this cabin was built in 2007. This interesting house design features some unusual shapes and protrusions that challenge our rationale of what is a norm in architecture. Another fascinating feature of the Amalia houses is the fact that it is covered in artificial turf. The owner's vision was to create a relationship between nature on the inside and outside of the home and hence the choice for an artificial grass covering. Via.
