Sure we focus on furniture here at FF, but the buildings and architecture we put our furnishings in also peak our interest. This visually expressive and artistic U shaped apartment building from Vinnese artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser is unlike any other building in the world. The "Waldspirale" in Darmstadt, Germany features various roof top domes, individualized windows and doors, a roof top that is an outdoor wonderland, a running stream, and restaurant/bar/playground facilities for some amusement. The artist in Hundertwasser really comes out in the 105 apartment structure that has literally no straight lines and a color scheme that evokes more than one look. Via

Furniture Fashion recently received this submission featuring a custom Louisiana house located on a lake featuring cypress and swamp geography native to the state. When I first opened the email I was thinking "Bon Temps, Louisiana" as I have been reading the Southern Vampire series novels and following True Blood on HBO. Anyway, we know that Bon Temps is a fictional town so forget that notion.
This project was created by architect Mike McSwain of Shreveport. One of the highlights he pointed out is the simple fact that this type of house is in Louisiana and not in California for example. The house features an amazing home theatre room where not only can movies be viewed, but it has a full studio for making movies. I cannot be certain on the home owners since that information is private, but it may well be some one from the film industry. Source: Mike McSwain.

Tanguay residence is a house design in San Diego created by the interior architecture firm of Soucie Horner Ltd. The residence is an eye-catching home that is elegant yet livable with dramatic architectural details.
Throughout the interior, the rooms are kept simple with off-white walls and modest accessories that allow exquisite furniture to act as the focal point. Chocolate wood accents provide a striking contrast to the light color scheme. Crisp shades of white fabrics adorn the couches, bar stools and beds, which give the rooms a fresh and airy feel.
The living room is a peaceful haven; with plush furniture, a stunning stone fireplace and a remarkable wood paneled ceiling. The open-concept kitchen has sleek marble counter tops and easy access to the living room; perfect for hosting a dinner party.

Nils Finne is a Seattle based architect who designed this Michigan cabin which sits on the Lake Superior. The lake property sits on a three acre plot of land no more than 30 feet from the lake. In the project, the design intention was to create a retreat where a family could escape for the weekend. There was additional intent to make the house "greener" by integrating the use of some bamboo and adding additional insulation to conserve energy. The back side of the cabin features a 40 foot long window to take in the view of Lake Superior. The end result was a wonderful modern cabin featuring a healthy amount of "wood looks" in the home interior along with stunning visual imagery surrounding the Michigan cabin. Source: Nils Fine. Via.

Concrete is perhaps one of the most useful tools in construction in stabilizing support structure or as a mainstay in road building. Designing a concrete home residence is a possibility as well as evidenced in this house by Thomas Bendel. Though the entire home is not concrete, large proportions of it embrace its use which creates the "mood of the home". Concrete for me speaks of a stark existence since it is such a raw construction form. My past experience is that it usually elicits a negative response from most people as it is not perceived as creating a "warm" home environment. Via - Daily Icon.
