When I first saw this I thought of decorating a young boy's room since scrapes and bruises seem to come with the territory. This is a rug shaped like the world famous "Band Aid". I am not sure that you will see it in your favorite home furnishings store soon, but you have to give the designer credit for this idea. Via.

Fireplace mantels are one effect that can really round out a decorative touch in a living room or any room that has a fireplace. Fireplace mantels have been around for thousands of years and are still accepted today as standards in interior design. These 20 examples are all constructed of stone. Styles range from contemporary to renaissance to Louis XIV. I think many of these are transitional and would work in a multitude of decorative settings. All of these fireplace mantels come from Francois & Co. They employ a technique called "Scagliola" which became popular during the 17th century in Tuscany as a replacement for costly marble inlays. Francois & Co. scour Europe looking for old examples so that they can model these in their current designs. More information: here.

I recently set up a group on Facebook for Furniture Fashion readers to connect. I had several ideas in mind when I set up the group based on the comments and questions that come in from readers. I think that the "Wall" in Facebook could prove useful if you are looking for a product, news on a product, or selling a piece of furniture. Here are some ideas that I kicked around where it may be useful:
- Buying or selling a hard to find piece of furniture
- Asking for reviews on products form other users
- Talking about design ideas and trends
- Sharing experiences on home remodeling
- Finding products that fit special purposes (such as small space furniture for example)
I think it can be useful and a fun place to comment. Some times forums can be good, but also moderation can be a challenge. Facebook should prove a good venue for sharing ideas. You can join the group by following this link: Join Furniture Fashion on Facebook.
