A new digital supplement has been released by Furniture Today. The supplement is only being released electronically as its focus is on the market of environmentally friendly furniture and it wishes to not use any paper in its production.

Green spotlights many eco-friendly furniture manufacturers that are reducing wastes, decreasing use of power and making other strides to protect the environment.

If you have old wicker or are considering buying vintage pieces, some cleaning and other spiffing up might be in order. If the piece is in good condition structurally, restoring its original beauty is easy.

To clean wicker, a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment might be all it takes. But if the piece has deep, dirty crevices, an air compressor and blow gun tool (or simply a can of compressed air) will work better.

Ikea Pillows Helping Women and Children in India

This story came from the Dallas Morning News and relate to these pillows being available at a store in Frisco, Texas. You may want to check your local Ikea store or their website if you want to help out these women and children. These cushions don't just serve style, but also Indian children and women in need

Handmade Grindtorp all-wool cushion covers are $14.99 at Ikea. If Ikea's affordably attractive products aren't motivation enough to swallow the Frisco commute, the company's hand-embroidered Grindtorp cushions should be. The Swedish retailer and UNICEF designed four fair-trade pillows to benefit children and women in Uttar Pradesh, a poverty-stricken state in India.

There are no charitable company donations. Instead, the organizations train thousands of women to produce and sell their handmade wool pillows. This is meant to stimulate financial independence. The program also has a zero-child-labor policy in place that encourages the women to put their children - an estimated 75,000 - in school. Each cushion is $14.99 at Ikea in Frisco, 7171 Ikea Drive. Inserts are not included but are available for $5.99 a pop at the store.

Just Finished a Blog Redesign

Well it's very late and I have just finished a blog redesign. I wanted to add some pictures to give it more of a design and decorating feel. Additionally, there is now a navigation bar to help readers get to important pages more easily. I added easy "subscribe to" buttons to many of the common RSS readers. This should make subscribing to the blog much, more easy.

There is also now a "fave this blog" button for Technorati. If you like my blog, I encourage you to add it to your favorites at Technorati.

I do have some exciting news. Will and I will soon be adding a store to our blog. Our first step will be an Ebay store. Later, we will add a secure shopping cart service to this blog as well. We will let you know as soon as the store is up and running.

We plan to continue to provide new stories for our readers. Though we will have our own store, we remain committed to enhancing the overall furniture fashion and design experience. There are so many great ideas and products out there, that no one company can offer them all. It is our plan to cover a wide range of products, trends and decorating ideas as we always have.
