For anyone who has used a log as a makeshift bench, you may see the real beauty of the Tree Trunk Bench from designer Jurgen Bey. The wise decision by Bey to offer the 3 cast bronze chair backs and let the lumber be purchased locally will certainly make the shipping and receiving a lot easier. The Tree Trunk Bench is part of the permanent collections of The International Design Museum Munich, Germany, High Museum of Art Atlanta, USA, and the Centraal Museum Utrecht, The Netherlands. $15,700 Available from Droog

The "Kristall pedestal table" was in interpretation of the Apollo XI Space Mission where it looks somewhat like a lunar lander. This table is "ready to land in your living room as it did on the moon". Available at Artaban for €1,500: here.

The Alf Group of Italy is one of my favorite up and coming European furniture makers, and I really have to say their new "Aladino Up" suspended platform bed is a step in the right direction. The collection also features wall mounted storage drawers to complete the illusion of a suspended bedroom set and nice touches like the upholstered grid patterned headboard, soft touch closing drawers, and orthopedic slats that cushion the platform frame for a comfortable nights sleep.
