In the ultimate stainless steel kitchen, designer Marco Gorini has created a masterpiece from a single stainless steel block. This project was called the "Non Plus Ultra Evolution" with the inspiration to create a real work station for the serious cook. Looking at the back side image, it does appear to be a work station where a cook can immerse himself or herself in the art of cooking. This kitchen comes from Strato, an Italian manufacturer. The amount of stainless steel used perhaps, draws its inspiration from commercial kitchens where stainless is a staple raw material due to its durability and ease of cleaning. Now, I am not sure how much the stainless steel kitchen may weigh, but you may want to be careful if considering this for anywhere but a ground floor in a home. More information: here.

When you see a picture you often get an image in your mind about where the image came from. The kitchen cabinets and island in this picture caught me by surprise. I first came by the picture before the story and saw what appeared as a very "current" design. I found out that this design was the end result of a recreation of a house that was built in New Jersey in 1921. The architect was Richard Bubnowski. The home owners wanted to create the original look on the outside of the home so they stuck to a craftsman style bungalow on a tiny lot that measured 40' x 93'. I must say that I love this kitchen design and in particular the wood cabinets, island, and flooring. The finish in the kitchen is not too dark and not too light creating a great overall feel for an older styled home. It is even harder to imagine that the square footage in the home is 2,100 square feet and yet this kitchen looks so spacious. Via.

There are a lot of trash cans and recycling bins out there but the "Tri3" by Constance Guisset is quite possibly the slimmest and most unassuming. The Tri3 has three foot pedals that open any of the three individual compartments to easily segregate different types of refuse. The Bottom one opens from the front, the middle one swings to the side, and one from the top in the way a traditional foot operated trash can would. I like this recycling concept as much as the Ovette we reviewed in a previous post.

A new trend I am seeing is the use of wine tumblers instead of stemware. I did not think much of it the first time I saw someone enjoying wine from these glasses, but I am seeing this more and more. The reasoning is quite simple. It is much harder to spill from a tumbler than from a stem. Further, some people have trouble putting down stemware without cracking the base. Perhaps, it is a vision issue or simply put an "impaired vision" issue. Nonetheless, wine tumblers are catching on. These glasses here are made by Riedel and are called "O Glasses". There are four models available designed for the following wines: cabernet, merlot, pinot noir, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc. Price range: $20 - $24 per glass. Buy product: here.
