The collaboration of several Italian lighting and lamp resources has come together to form AGHAS Luce a high profile and visually impressive collection that represents "the new look of light". Even though the look of this lighting collection is "new age" the standards of the Murano glass blowers and firing techniques is centuries old. Here are a few of the AGHAS Luce wall sconces that are just a sampling of the look you can expect from one of my favorite lighting companies. The other contributors to the collection are SWAMI, and lucepura that have their own distinctive flair that will excite anyone who loves great looking glass art and its interaction with light. See the AGHAS collections here.

Modular and lighting are usually two concepts that don't go together, what you see is what you get. The "Ameba" on the other hand features an organic winding series of shapes that allow you to be the architect with endless possibilities that adapt to your living space and requirements. Designer Pete Sans comprised this cool modern pendant lighting system from five different shapes that can be used in as little as two pieces. Produced by Vibia in Barcelona, Spain.

Some times in decorating simple is better in particular when it can be joined with elegance. The "Tris" contemporary chandelier makes this happen in its basic design. It features a shape with three reaching outward prongs. Tris' geometry captures enough of my attention while not creating too abstract a shape for decorators seeking a more defined chandelier pattern. It is made of milky white blown glass. It also is available as a ceiling or wall fixture if you wish to mount it directly onto a wall surface. More information: here.

I have really been taken in by Kapp, a modern chandelier from Studio Italian Design. The glass pattern is striking and sure to draw the attention of any person that passes by. I readily see the fit in commercial lighting projects and sit this morning thinking about how to work it into a residential setting. I know the idea is out there, I am just another cup of coffee away from it. Kapp is available in a clear or red crystal hand-blown glass. You can find out more on this modern chandelier at their website here.
I wish I could show you all of the incredible glass lamps and lighting from Oggetti founded by Robert and Nancy Frehling in 1975. Originally entirely Italian the Oggetti collection featured designer oriented Venetian blown glass with vibrant colors and detailing that really comes to life when illuminated. Since that time the collection has expanded to the "Tavola Accessories" a collection for the home, bath and office, using natural materials, the "Gallery Collection," representing artists' work in glass to fine galleries, and "Oggetti Luce," comprising several collections of Italian lighting including pendants, table lamps and tourchiers, chandeliers, floor lamps and sconces. I had the recent pleasure of seeing the entire collection of Oggetti lamps and lighting at the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina and was very impressed with the collection that included precision laser cut glass on the technology side, and old world mouth blown tradition on the other. Visit Oggetti for a look at the full collection here.
