The Hool is the next installment of functional design offered by Christian Vivanco. This budding designer has been pumping out some very striking designs. The Hool is not yet in production, but I can't imagine it will be long. I expect some furniture producer will snatch up this talented young designer very soon.
The Hool is a perfect small space storage solution. It's tall and thin so it does not consume much of that valuable floor space. The Hool has a total of four compartments distributed on the different faces of the unit. The unit spins to allow easy access, and there is a hook on one side for coats or other clothing.
One thing that I very much like about the Hool is the ability to rotate particular shelves out of sight. So you can have a messy shelf or store items away from prying eyes. It's a great piece and I hope to see it in production soon.

If you live in a small space, especially an efficiency apartment, you know how hard it is to have a bed without living in a bedroom. One of the biggest challenges in small space living is sleeping in comfort.
American Upholstery has an array of sleeper sofas just for small spaces. The Natalie sleeper is billed as "the world's smallest sleeper sofa with a real sized bed". By slightly tweaking the dimensions of their sleepers they are able to produce very space efficient designs. It seems like a no brainier that if you need a sleeper sofa you are likely tight for space. So why aren't more furniture makers doing this.
The Chaise Queen Plus is a great innovative design. This sofa comes with an ottoman that adds a chaise like feel to the sofa. The ottoman also provides storage for your pillows and pajamas during the day. It's a great combination.
These sleepers are very comfortable. Unlike most traditional sleeper sofas, there are no metal bars under the mattress. Instead a solid wood base, providing a more stable, bed-like sleeping area. It supports the entire mattress. These sofas are quite stylish and are available in a huge selection of fabrics and leathers.

I am always looking for space saving solutions perfect for a loft or small apartment. I am also a big fan of setting up your own shelving system so that you can fit your own design tastes as opposed to built-ins. An added benefit is that you can rearrange shelving if you add a piece of furniture which changes the configuration of your room.
The Mobileffe wall unit system offers a way to configure a wall to fit your needs. From the pictures you can see that there are stylish components to choose from which will enhance the appearance of any room. The various cabinets, shelves, mantles, and other options allow for personal configuration tastes. One of the pictures showcases a more elaborate library offering attractive storage for a book collection. The other picture shows a more spaced out approach combining elements of shelving and cabinets on a wood background.
There is a contact form on the Mobileffe website to get information on their products. EuropeByNet states that they can sell these products today, though their website does not have any images and pricing at this time.

When you first look at it, the white & beech veneer Elfa shelving and desk unit doesn't seem all that impressive. You'll have to add a series of tracks to your wall for all the various shelves and the desk panel. But that's the beauty of it. This simple "all in one" office system can be molded very easily to fit your needs as the beech veneer shelves are completely and independently adjustable.
You can bring the entire Elfa wall mounted shelving unit home for only $896 from The Container Stores website, or at any of their store locations. You'll probably want a stylish chair to go with this set, so make sure to check out any of the matching desk chairs that the container store has available. Dimensions are 16" x 80" x 8'.

In our small space living adventures we have come to realize the usefulness of multifunction furniture. If a piece can serve multiple uses, it becomes even more valuable to the small space dweller.
The CUB8 by Davide Varotto is one such piece. At first glance, it's... well, a cube. A small stylish low coffee table, the CUB8 looks like the typical modern coffee table. It is constructed of wenge stained oak and contrasting white lacquer. If this were it, we could say it was an attractive piece.
The CUB8, however, conceals several secrets. The unit pulls apart to affectively double its size. If you need more space for drinks or perhaps hors d'oeuvres at small space cocktail parties, just slide it apart and you are ready to entertain. Again, if this were then end, it would still be a great piece. In addition to sliding apart, the CUB8 also opens. Inside there is a shelf designed to hold CD's and DVD's and also a deeper storage compartment.
This is a great multifunction piece. When all you need is a small coffee table, the CUB8 will fit the bill. And when you need more, it will be there with loads of storage and tabletop space. Price: 1,170 euros.
