If you are looking for bright colors with a modern look the Flip Flap daybed may be just the piece for your living room. My favorite feature on Flip Flap is the super magnet that holds the cushion. The cushion can be adjusted into any position while the super magnet is strong enough to hold it in place. This is wonderful since you can see that the daybed can become a nice chair or a longer chaise type chair depending on which side you sit on. Flip Flap was designed by Ana Mir and is constructed of polyurethane foam over a wooden frame with stainless steel legs. Information: Dune Furniture.

For a small space such as an apartment or loft a piece such as "Scroll" is a wonderful addition. For me, I like to enjoy sitting in many positions to include lying down, sitting up, and reclining. When space is limited, you may not be able to furnish a room to allow for all forms of seating. This is a big reason why I like Scroll from Cor. Scroll is a daybed allowing you to lie down to watch TV. It is also a sofa that can be prominent in a living room. It can also be a chair when it is just you relaxing in the home. The color choices are very neutral allowing for many options to decorate your apartment or loft. Scroll also comes in different sizes depending on how much width you can allow in your space. A French design company, Decadrages, has a product on the market called "Bedup". The motivation behind Bedup is the small apartment or loft resident who must maximize space to the fullest. The bed is cleverly concealed near the ceiling when not in use. In the picture the man working at a desk has the bed right on top of him at the ceiling. When needed, the bed comes down to provide a place to sleep. Bedup is a wonderful addition to small apartment design as it offers space conserving solutions. Product: here.

Pinel & Pinel of France are well know for their innovative and unusual designs, many of which are self contained and fold out systems. The "Movie Trunk" is my pick for the ultimate all in one home theater system that conveniently fold up when the movie is over (the ladies will love that). Unlike most audio/visual systems that come in a pre-chosen assortment, Pinel & Pinel incorporated the highly acclaimed Bang & Olufsen Beolab 6000 subwoofer, two Beolab 3 speakers, BeoVision 6-26 television, and the DVD1 DVD/CD player. The Movie Trunk is covered in an assortment of 51 vibrant leathers with nickel plated brass hardware and 3 drawers to store 48 DVD's. Total power 1300 watts 200V with supplied power transformer. Closed 155 H x 80.5 L x 58 D CM Open 155 H x 161 L x 43.5 D See the rest of the outstanding fold out furniture and storage trunks from Pinel & Pinel here.

Small space furniture is one of my favorite categories of interior design, mostly due to the creativity it involves. Often the furniture items are dual purpose and have convertible options that make complete sense when you see them in action. Hidden Bed shows us the perfect computer desk and bookcase wall unit by day, with a flip down convertible bed by night. The cool thing I like is the ability to leave all of the desk components in place and simply pull down the bed with ease. The Hidden Bed product line includes ready to go models or you can custom design the perfect convertible bed of your dreams. See the entire convertible Hidden Bed product line here.
