In a previous post I reported on the advantages of memory foam mattresses and the health benefits they offer. Sure there are many viscoelastic products available out there in a full range of prices and sizes, but what about the folks with special needs such as custom foam mattresses in specific sizes. Tempurpedic is the most well known name in the business with a range of products including neck pillows, mattress toppers, and back supports. As a retailer I always hear the need for metric and specific sizes for custom beds as well as beds made in Europe. The fine folks at Tempurpedic will do custom foam mattresses, and they sell them by the square foot with an up charge for the work allowing you to have this awesome product any where you want it. Now your boat, recreational vehicle, or custom bed will not be a problem.
We receive lots of comments at Furniture Fashion from concerned parents looking for baby safe products that are made right here in the USA. The economic reality is that outsourcing can produce goods cheaper, but with less controls. Having a baby throws a wrench into buying cheaper since you cannot be sure that your baby may be harmed by lead paint or other additives.

Magniflex, with a $24K mattress, hopes 2,000-sq.-ft. Soho unit will herald more
NEW YORK -- Magniflex, Italy's largest mattress producer, takes a big step here next week when it opens its first U.S. store in Manhattan's trendy Soho district. If it does well, more could follow here and in key markets across the country.
The company's unique assortment of mattresses, some of which are covered with exotic ticking fashioned from gold and silver fibers, brings a fresh offering to the U.S. bedding scene, company officials believe.

For many years the bedding industry offered three major choices of mattresses with very little change over the past generation or so. Inner spring, goose down, and latex foam dominated the market with the inner spring option as the overall favorite. Of coarse there were the pillow tops, individually pocketed coils, and no flip models but the general mattress concept has not evolved much. Then thanks to some space age technology we have seen a surge in the newest thing to hit the furniture industry in quite some time. A specialized viscoelastic memory foam developed by NASA to be used in space flight hit the general consumer market. This was revolutionary, and the private market began using it for all sorts of products including pillows, office chairs, and bedding.
