Lobby Furniture Design: A Collection of Eero Aarnio Ball Chairs
Wednesday, 14:07 | posted by JohnI saw this striking photo today of a new movie cinema that is opening in Warsaw, Poland called the Multikino Złote Tarasy. As a fan of modern designer Eero Aarnio, I was stricken by the number of his famous Ball Chairs that appeared in the photo of the main lobby. I cannot recall seeing more than one of these at a time so seeing this group together was certainly a treat. I would not have put this collection together in my own mind, but I am glad that they did, because this is cool to look at. Via.

"Calculator" Concept Lobby Furniture

Well, I think that lobby furniture shaped like a calculator gives new meaning to that old saying. I imagine this concept being in the office of an accounting firm. The other disparaging thought was that of a tax office, but we won't talk about this. The numbers of the calculator form individual seats designed for a waiting area. Via.

The Snickarper collection from Sweden has a distinct look and even adds some flair to their collection of retro modern front doors. I guess the 50's was a stylish time over in Europe as well and Snickarper has a very diverse collection of residential front doors in a wide variety of finishes that really make a bold statement. I really like their contrasting window trims and linear details as well as the simple hardware. Retro Modern Sofa and Occasional Chair
Friday, 05:06 | posted by JohnThere's not a lot of information on these two products, but I fell in love when I saw them and had to share them. I am a big fan of retro modern living room furniture and here you see two fine examples in a sofa and matching accent chair. The ribbed upholstery creates a throwback theme to days long gone. The catchy aspect is that these pieces are finished well on the ends with fitting angles and shapes creating a "retro look". The slightly indented sides remind me of old commercial seating that you would see at a diner, bus station, or train station. The angles, indention, and shape create this look for me. Perhaps, it is my memory of places such as that in my life. The sofa and accent chair are from the PMco "suite 50" series. Via.

Ice Lounge by Claudio Colucci

Claudio's objective was to create a chair that would enhance a person's experience while eating ice cream. The final result is called the "Ice Lounge" that you see in the picture. Ice Lounge is a unique "hideaway" where you can escape the fast pace of your life, and enjoy some ice cream. Via.
