Mid-Century Modern George Nelson Cabinet

Here is a nice George Nelson cabinet from the mid-century furniture era that you may find while bargain hunting in your favorite thrift shops or on Craigslist. A great thing about this piece is its simple design. This type of mid-century furniture could easily be combined with new pieces. The "old and new" look can be cool when cleverly put together. This cabinet is just under 3 feet wide which is a nice size for providing additional storage while at the same time not creating a huge footprint in a room.

Trundling Turk I - Most Colorful Chair in the World

I find this chair interesting and very similar to a Rubik's cube that is mixed up. This may be the most colorful chair in the world, but is one that is sure to challenge your senses. This chair is so "loud" that I cannot imagine any but the most contemporary and aggressive interior decorators trying to work it into a living room design. The chair was designed by Alison and Peter Smithson in 1953. I was not around at that time, but I imagine experimentation with color was the rage. I have to admit that you will not find it in my living room, but it makes for an interesting blog anecdote. Product information: here.

Ferruccio Laviani's LT1 Modern Table from Porro

Ferruccio Laviani furniture designs are cutting edge modern to say the least and the TL1 table is definitely one of my favorites. The LT1 table features opposing ovals connected by a funnel shape cone that forms a smooth and sinuous style that offers a light open look. Porro of Italy produced the table and also features a full range of super modern furniture that would really deck out a great looking modern décor. Check out the entire Porro collection from Italy here.

YOMEI : Modern Leather Furniture by André Schelbach

André Schelbach, the creative mind behind YOMEI invites us to "live with leather" and his stunning collection of modern furniture nicely wrapped in the most sensual of materials. YOMEI uses only hard-wearing, smooth, heavy-duty leather for the cabinetry, while natural grain, ultra-soft bull neck leather is used for the hand made armchairs and lounge sofas. The entire modern furniture collection includes sideboards, lounge sofas and armchairs, tv entertainment units, coffee tables, and the "Magic Cube" fold up computer cabinet / workstation that is definitely my favorite. See the entire collection of leather wrapped modern furniture from YOMEI here.
