Paul McCobb's works have always fascinated me when it comes to mid century modern furniture. A few months back, I featured a pair of minimalist nightstands that had been crafted by the modern master. Here is the Planner Group bench and cabinet which combine seating and storage in a single furniture piece. The two drawers are not just decorative, and function on aluminum pulls. The bench is constructed in maple over dowel legs. The bench was produced by Winchendon and measures 18.25" x 48" x 31.5". This great piece would be a wonderful find in a resale shop or store featuring mid century finds.

Designer John Reeves has made quite a splash in the furniture design game with two Elle Décor, and a Heal's Discovers award under his belt in a relatively short career. Reeves furniture has a rather rebellious theme that takes classically shaped elements that have been modernized for today's audience. Here is a sophisticated and robust chest of drawers and storage cabinet from his "Victoria and Albert" collection. The pieces are fully lacquered in a tough Polyuethane finish featuring some eye popping colors that allow the shape to stand out, while giving a modern visual touch to this classically shaped style. The chest of three drawers has discreet simple side operating handles and a contrasting interior in sustainable sourced American walnut solids and veneers. I have seen all of the newest modern fireplaces on the market today but some of my favorites have been around for quite a long time. The Gyrofocus was the first in a series of rotating, suspended fireplaces, and is a classic Focus design that is as relevant today as at the time of its creation by Dominique Imbert in 1968. The Gyrofocus can rotate 360º and offers exceptional heat efficiency. It features a custom made flue for ease of installation and has been exhibited in the Guggenheim Museum, in New York, The Bordeaux Modern Art Museum, and the Grenoble Modern Art Centre. If your family had a travel camper that you took out for weekends it likely was a boxy version or even a pop-up model. This design is called "Mehrzeller", with this idea coming from Graz, Austria. Mehrzeller is based on a multi-cell concept where the buyer can customize the camper- trailer interior and in effect create their own modern design to meet their functionality needs. Via.
