Prefabricated Homes from Loftcube

Loftcube Bedroom Modern Furniture
Loftcube Prefabricated Housing

Of course Furniture Fashion is dedicated to reporting on the latest in design and interior innovation, but you also need a place to put these cool ideas. The Loftcube from designer Werner Aisslinger is a modern dwelling with a lot of living space for its size with plenty of windows. The 2007 tour of the Loftcube will be in two locations, Berlin and Milan with more locations in the future. The prefabricated concept allows for a more cost effective housing through the mass production. I like the modern lines and how well it uses all of the structure, wasting nothing. Studio Aisslinger is also well known for some really great contemporary furniture designs.

Convertible Sleeper Futon from Haiku Designs

I really like the clean look of this sleeper sofa from Haiku Designs. Many of the sleepers on the market are big and bulky and look like they house a bed. This simple design, however, does not have a bulky look and yet offers great flexibility. On top of that it is hard to beat the black leather and chrome combination. A great feature of this piece is that there are multiple positions that the sofa can be adjusted to giving the owner great flexibility. I also find this piece to be transitional with its sleek appearance. It could be the center point in your living room or placed some where else in your home as an accent piece.

Verner Panton Relaxer Lounger Chair

Verner Panton Relaxer Lounger

You know the saying "everything old becomes new again", well here is a retro look from Danish modern designer Verner Panton that was popular in the 60's and 70's. The Panton Relaxer Lounger looks like a 60's stab at the coming "space age" but in fact is a very comfortable chair perfect for extended lounging. The reissue of the original is made to the same standards from oiled mahogany and 100% wool covered polyurethane cushion. Each piece is stamped with a limited edition number, available from modlivin for $1195.00. 24.5"W x 40"D x 30.5"H x 8"SH

$15,000 Dining Chair from Ralph Lauren Home

ralph lauren home silver dining chair

I was browsing for furniture at Ralph Lauren Home and came upon the RL-CF1 silver dining chair. The picture caught my eye, because this piece is so modern in style. My visions of Ralph Lauren Home are very traditional pieces in regular browns and blacks that would be perfect in a conservative decorated house. This piece, however, is very modern with a touch of art deco. The metal on the dining chair is made of carbon fiber. The seat and back are made of white leather.

I was most surprised of the price tag on this chair. This piece actually has a MSRP. Normally, I only see a MSRP when I am shopping for a new car. Anyway, priced at $15,395, this piece is about the same cost as buying a car, and I am assuming that this is the price for a single dining chair. Of course, if you need six chairs, you would be near $100,000. I wonder if this is a misprint and the chair is supposed to be around $1,500.

Modern Sofas and Sectionals from Bludot

Bludot Furniture Modern

Here is a great looking modern sofa from Bludot Furniture that has ultra clean lines and a surprisingly reasonable price tag. I personally like the Couchoid sofa for it's unique style and its deviation from the norm. Since 1997 the goal of Bludot has been to bring good design to as many people as possible and that means affordability. In addition to their ultra modern pieces, they also have some retro and lifestyle designs that are equally cool. Couchoid is available in white, dark brown, and robins egg blue for $1699.00
