The stackable and colorful children's bed from Müller Möbelwerkstätten was designed to be adaptable to new homes and new spaces not to mention growth spurts. For those who are already past their growing years the stacking and modular beds are made for grown ups as well. I really like the chrome version that has a flashy modern appeal. See more about the furniture featuring Rolf Heide's design philosophy that is still highly relevant to a flexible, independent and mobile lifestyle after 40 years here.

Designer Shaun Milburn give us a look at the future of baby bassinettes and cribs with his Babycotpod which include two models, the "Cascara" which includes the hood and retractable handle, and the more simple "Cuba". Both feature convenient handles for transporting. The Tang stand will be available in both wood and molded plastic and the interior will feature a soft interior in various colors. The Babycotpod bassinettes are awaiting approval for manufacturing but I have seen far less creative furniture make it so I have hope for this one. Every parent has to be concerned when it comes to a toddler and wonder if their bedroom furniture contains harmful toxins as part of its construction process. Though I hear that manufacturing controls are in place, it does little to allay my fears as a furniture writer. Here is some toddler bedroom furniture that is offered by eco-friendly Branch Home. This is part of the "IoLine" series which is made by Kalon Studio in Gardner, Massachusetts. In the community reside highly skilled woodworkers steeped in a tradition of chair making. Kalon studio employs 350 workers to make their products there. Construction materials used in the toddler bedroom furniture consist of solid bamboo combined with non-toxic polyurethane and non-toxic wood oil. More information: here.
