The Fjords collection from Hjellegjerde of Norway is truly a top of the line collection specializing in leather recliners and multifunction sofa groupings with a focus on form and ergonomics. Their concept has recently grown to include 5 base options for the recliner and ottoman sets, and sofa, loveseat, chair combinations carefully matched where comfort and functionality are of great importance for the sitting experience. Sofas and chairs have height adjustable neck supports on high back models with the built-in Fjords Active Release System that allows several head positions and ultimate neck support. I highly recommend the Fjords line for home theaters or modern interiors where comfort is highly important.
Ekornes has been the leader in fine Norwegian furniture for the past 70 years, specializing in the Stressless line of home theater seating and recliners since 1972. I have personally been an Ekornes Stressless owner for the past 15 years and can attest to the exceptional value and ergonomic features their furniture offers. Ekornes revealed their newest offering to the American market after a well received debut in Europe this past September at the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina. The "Jazz" series has a much more glamorous look than the other Stressless recliners with its modern lines and special features. Ekornes added an upholstered leather base on the recliner and ottoman and a height adjustable center post that connects to the bowed chromed supports. Jazz has all of their standard features like a tilt ottoman, sleep and plus mechanism headrest, height adjustable headrest, and self adjusting lower lumbar support. The Jazz comes in two sizes to fit any of its prospective owners, and I can say with all honesty it feels as good as it looks!! Due in stores early 2008 for an estimated $3500.
If you are looking for well designed and sophisticated seating, Ekornes Stressless is a must see. The sectionals are available in one, two, and three seat sections with connecting small or rounded corners, and high or low back options. Even the low back seats have reclining features that allow you to easily slip into a comfortable position. The Wave sofa sectional shown here is based on the Stressless medium size frame which has a slightly narrower seat than their full size models. My favorite piece of the Ekornes line is the matching recliners that swivel and have a tilt mechanism for the ottoman for the most ergonomic seat available. In addition the high back Stressless seats all offer two tilt headrest features allowing a sleep or T V viewing position. The entire liner comes in four leather grades and a micro fiber with six wood options allowing you to create what you see here, a great looking living or media room.
